30 | LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2023 | This group is made up of generally men, but women are always welcome. Our focus is on conversation and friendship. We meet every Wednesday in the Clubhouse between 8 and 9 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. It is typically a group of 10 to 20 people. We are led by a facilitator who ensures that everyone will have the opportunity to talk and encourages conversation. We have very interesting and diverse conversations. There are countless benefits you'll enjoy by joining this group, and they can vary from person to person. For more information about The Coffee Group, please contact George Vawter at (909) 253-3318 or via email hbwisenheimer1@yahoo.com. Come and check us out, and feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug! COFFEE GROUP BON APPETIT CLUB Our August meeting was very informative and enjoyable. We had Aaron Saubel and three of his co-workers from the Malki Museum in Banning come talk to us about the history of the Native Americans in the Pass Area and how native plants were a major part of their food source. They also brought homemade Mesquite Cookies, Chai Candy and a bread made from local plants. At the end of the presentation, Aaron sang four Bird Songs about their journeys in this area. His contact information is: Aaron Saubel, Malki Museum; 11-795 Malki Road; Banning, Ca 92220; (951) 849-7289; www.malkimuseum.org Thank you to Ronnie Zacker and Mary Farlander for providing raffle baskets for the August meeting. If you don't know, the monies from the monthly raffles fund scholarships for a Beaumont High School Culinary Arts graduate going on to further their studies in the Culinary Arts. Our Sept. 1 meeting will feature a presentation by Bianca Ralston on how to put together a charcuterie board. During her demonstration, everyone can be nibbling on their own charcuterie in a cup. Alissa from Beaumont High School Culinary Arts program will be here in October and our Chili Cook-off will be in November. We have three participants so far but would like to have an additional three. If you're interested, please let me know at our September meeting. The annual elections are in November. If you want to run for one of the Board positions, give your name to one of the Bon Appetit Board members. Requirements are that you must be a paid dues member to run. If we don't get enough people for the Board, December will be our last meeting. ~ Pam Davidson, (951) 264-3368, davidson. pam@gmail.com
