And it's a fun group as well! Member Spotlight: You might know Michael Gordon from his extensive work on the feasibility study for a second exercise pool. He and the committee have completed the investigative work, and are ready to present their findings to the Master Board at the appropriate time. Michael feels strongly that if OHCC wants to look to the future, we need to begin talking about a second exercise pool. e central reason for his move to OHCC seven years ago was our pool. Michael grew up in Buffalo NY and he was always into sports. Childhood summers were oen spent in Canada, with time spent at camps. He earned the distinction of being the youngest "Male Whale" aer proving he could swim from the shore to the ra and back! With a degree in English, he eventually moved to the San Francisco area where he first worked as Executive Director for a state-wide nonprofit. From there, he went into business with various positions using his Master's in organizational psychology. Michael has been involved in improvisational theatre both at OHCC - starting the improv group "Senior Moments" - and during his time in the Bay Area. Many of you may remember Michael as the character Orval in the play Air Turbulence at the Star eatre in Oceanside back in 2021. He recently retired from full time work and has found a rewarding part time position doing career transition coaching. Michael swims three to four times a week. He and his wife Phyllis have one son who lives near Redlands, CA. Other important family members are Rooney and Rosie, the Gordons' two miniature Havanese. Michael and Phyllis also enjoy movies and getting together with friends. Did you miss the club's Swim Clinic that was held for four Saturdays in July? Don't worry - our dedicated instructors can teach you to swim at any time. From a fearful non-swimmer to someone wanting to perfect their stroke, these club members can help. We have female and male teachers and they are all patient and motivating.
