| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2023 | 11 Solar Installation Community Update rough August 2023, the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) has received 266 applications (projects) for home improvement. 63 applications have been solar installation projects, which is more than double through the same period last year as homeowners continue to seek solar to combat rising energy costs. More than a dozen solar companies are currently servicing this community. ese solar companies seem to be up to date on state and city requirements, but several are not aware of the HOA standards (per the Architectural Standards and Regulations) for solar installations, which are required within this community. Unfortunately, there have been eight solar installations which were not approved, either by not following the initial application/ approval process, or the completed job did not meet the Architectural Standards and Regulations within the community. Factors contributing to disapproval are: • Solar Company was not aware of HOA Standards and Regulations. • ird party installation team doing the work was not aware of HOA Standards and Regulations. • Homeowners were not aware of the HOA Standards and Regulations. • Homeowners did not conduct a final walk through at completion of job with installer before they le the property, ensuring that the work completed meets the Standards and Regulations that were approved during the application process. Once the solar company leaves the property, the homeowners oen have great difficulty getting the company back to correct any discrepancies that caused the disapproval. e result can cost the Homeowner additional time and money in resolving the issue. Solutions for a successful project application and completion: • Ensure that the homeowner and all parties of and associated with the solar company understand the Architectural Standards and Regulations prior to any application being submitted. If you need a copy, please contact e Lodge front desk or Maria Donti. • Set up an appointment with the Architectural Assistant Maria Donti to review the application process and obtain a copy of the Architectural Standards and Regulations. • e homeowner and solar company can attend a scheduled ARC Committee meeting to review requirements and compliance prior to submitting application. • Conduct a walk-through with the solar company installer upon project completion. It is the homeowner's responsibility to ensure the work completed is in accordance with the approved application. Maria Donti can also be contacted before installation, to ensure the panels will be installed according to approved plans. If you are having problems getting your contractor or representative out to correct a problem, you can contact the Contractors State License Board for assistance at (562) 345-7600; 12501 E Imperial Hwy #600. Norwalk, CA 90650. DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR ALTERATIONS UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN APPROVAL LETTER FROM THE ARC. If you are not sure if you need an application for your project, ALWAYS ASK FIRST. e homeowner, NOT THE CONTRACTOR, is responsible for submitting the application. If you have any questions regarding these matters, you can contact your Architectural Assistant Maria Donti at (951) 325- 8188 or email (maria.donti@fsresidential.com). You can also schedule appointments, as she may not be available to speak to you on a walk-in basis. e ARC would like to thank homeowners who continue to invest in their homes making this community a beautiful place to live.
