| THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2023 | 23 Upcoming Events… Open To Everyone! The Odd Couple Stage Play Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 pm in the Auditorium. Neil Simon's revision of his hugely successful play, e Odd Couple, sees the lead characters turned into Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Olive and her group of girlfriends are enjoying a night of Trivial Pursuit when Florence arrives fresh from being dumped by her husband. Olive is fearful of Florence's mental state and invites her to be her roommate. As with the original Odd Couple, Olive and Florence have very different personalities which eventually tests their friendship. Olive eventually organizes a double date, for her and Florence, with the Costazuela brothers, who have just moved into the same apartment complex. Olive and Florence's differences come to head and SPARKS FLY! is version of e Odd Couple opened on June 11, 1985, and starred Rita Moreno as Olive Madison and Sally Struthers as Florence Unger. e show will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3 pm in the Clubhouse Auditorium by the Canyon Lakes eater Group. e cost of tickets is $15 per person. Friendsgiving Friday, Nov. 17 in the Auditorium. Friendsgiving is about spending time and breaking bread with old friends and making new ones. Invite a neighbor to join you for this pre- anksgiving lunch with all the traditional fixings, catered by our friends at the VFW. Long tables will be set up family style and seats will not be assigned. Tickets are $15 per person. Bus TRip: Festival of Lights ursday, Nov. 30. Get in the holiday spirit at the spectacular 30th Annual Festival of Lights. ere are over 3.5 million brilliant lights, animated elves and carolers that come alive! e Festival of Lights is one of the nation's largest holiday light collections, voted "Best Public Lights Display" by USA Today. Walk around historic downtown Riverside, shop and dine on your own. You also can take that special horse-drawn carriage ride! e bus leaves at 3:30 pm and returns at 9 pm. Tickets are $35 per person. Remember to dress warmly. Come to my office and purchase tickets as soon as you get your Colony News! Trim-A-Tree Saturday, Dec. 2, 1 to 3 pm. Attention all Colony grandparents! Reserve this date for our Annual Trim-A-Tree event in the Clubhouse Lounge and Atrium for all the grandkids to enjoy (and adults too). Santa and Mrs. Claus will make a special appearance along with their beautiful Elf. ere will be face painting, refreshments, homemade cras and tree decorating. Christmas Ball Saturday, Dec. 9, 6 to 10 pm. It's Senior Citizen Days at Murrieta Mesa High School with tickets $2 for anyone 55 and older. Please see Kara in the Activities Office for tickets. Shows and dates are: Oct. 28, 2 pm: e Play at Goes Wrong • Feb. 3, 2 pm: Puffs • March 9, 2 pm: Mean Girls Murrieta Mesa High School Theatre Season Calling all crafters! Applications for tables at the 27th Annual Cra Fair, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4, are now being accepted from Colony craers. Tables will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If there are any available tables on Monday, Oct. 9, applications will be accepted from family members of Colony residents, who must be accompanied by e Colony resident. If you would like to choose your location in the Auditorium or Lounge, the activities office will begin accepting those requests on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 8:30 am. Sunday, Dec. 31, 6:30 pm to midnight.
