| THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2023 | 33 Men's Golf By Greg Griffes e Men's Golf Club welcomes residents who wish to hang out with a group of fun-loving golfers and improve their golf game at the same time. We play on Wednesday mornings, and play a variety of games, such as scrambles, shambles and individual handicap games. We have two major tournaments a year, and we also host a year-end celebration where trophies are handed out and other fun stuff happens. Occasionally, there are road trips to other golf courses, such as the recent scramble game at the Welk Resort (see the Good Ole Boys article by Joe Cwirka). We are a USGA recognized golf club. But golf is not our only passion. We have social events, such as monthly luncheons and BBQs with an open bar and a raffle. e most passionate event we sponsor is the Pancake Breakfast twice a year for which 300 people typically attend. We all pitch in to put it on, and the proceeds benefit local high school seniors in the form of higher education scholarships. Some say that our pancake breakfast is the best breakfast in town! To be a member, you must be a resident, but all men 55+ are welcome to play golf with us. To learn more about membership, contact George Herrera at 760-533-0350 or xoherrera7@gmail. com.
