32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2023 | Sun Lakes Follies The Sun Lakes Follies, with 35 years of entertaining Sun Lakes, gave a star-studded production! So much talent was seen on the weekend of Sept. 29 - Oct. 1 in How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice! Practice! Practice! Joanne Graham, Sun Lakes Follies President, was literally seen during the year on a "talent search" here in Sun Lakes. She gathered singers, dancers, comedians, and musicians. And, along with her Directors, Lloyd Friedman, Jeann Svarvar, and other Board Members, Penny Skog and Olga Marquette, they put together the 2023 show that so many people are still talking about. Imagineā€¦ The Stones, Pizzaz, Nancy Ford, Lori Battaglia-Bell, Fusion, Tip Top Tap, Lloyd Friedman, Sheldon Kirshbaum, Rich Morales, Classy Tappers, Makua Hula, Hai Yan Jackson and so many more all under one roof for three days! The talent was explosive and the audience was really enthralled with the entertainers here in Sun Lakes. Joanne wishes to thank everyone in the Follies who helped make this such a special show, but especially wants to thank the community of Sun Lakes for coming out and supporting this group. On Oct. 8, the Friendship Club presents "Last Date, The Floyd Cramer Story," featuring pianist Jason 'Floyd' Coleman in a piano concert of country and pop classics made famous by his grandfather, Floyd Cramer. From humble beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride, to a Hall of Fame recording career in Nashville, to the iconic "Last Date" and signature piano style, Jason plays his way through the musical history of his grandfather to tell the Floyd Cramer story in a way no one else can. Jason's concert is much more than just music. He incorporates multimedia to share his own personal stories, photos, and films of growing up with his Grandad, culminating in a series of video duets between Jason and Floyd that bridge the generations and will take your breath away. Sun Lakes residents are invited to join the Friendship Club and enjoy Vegas-style entertainment up close and personal. Membership Fee is $25 per person for the year. If you join or renew your membership before Dec. 31, your name will be entered into a drawing for two free tickets to any show.
