28 | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2023 | The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club is pleased to have Laurice Johnson (above left) as our speaker for our meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 1 pm in the Annex. Laurice is an active member of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society and is currently their Education Director. She also belongs to the TVGS Writers Group. Laurice has talked to our club several times and we are always eager to invite her back. She is a wonderful speaker and an experienced genealogist. Laurice's presentation will be about organizing your information papers, notebooks, programs, etc., so that you don't miss some key information in your ancestry. From a past meeting, above right is a photo of Mary Ann Mericle describing methods for documenting your ancestry and solving mysteries about your long-lost relatives. The Colony Cousins leadership is looking for an additional member for the Nominations committee and is also seeking a member to run for Vice-President. Among the vice-president's duties is chair of the Programs committee, which sets up our programs for the year. Visitors are always welcome. Our meeting will start promptly at 1 pm so please plan to sign in at 12:45 pm. If you have questions, please call Lennie Martin, President, at (503) 269-9987. The Book Readers will meet on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 am in the Meeting Room. Book Readers Eleanor Newhard The ukulele group continues to grow as we welcome new members. It's truly rewarding to see our "newbies" learn and enjoy this musical experience. Some of us also join with the Temecula Strummers at the Murrieta Senior Center twice a month to play and sing old-time music. We would love to have you visit us any Friday at 1 pm in the Annex. We will teach you how to play this easy instrument so you can sing and laugh with us. Please call me for more information. Strummers By Judy Moore, 949-468-7375
