Happy fall! We survived another Murrieta summer! Most of the pickleball players made the adjustment and played starting at 6:30 am; now we are waiting until 7:30 am — what's the hurry? We had 20 participants at our October tournament. Everyone had a great time, and the food was plentiful, thanks to all of the players. Here are how things shook out: Rich Brown, Lisa Otten and Roswitha Melander won first place on their respective courts with point totals of 33 each. Stan Naylor, Kathy Lewis and El Presidente Bruce Dalfonso took top honors in the mixed doubles, each with a total score of 27. The picklers play throughout the day and into the evenings. It's so nice to see everyone getting out there and having fun. Please come down to the courts and join in. We have open play from 6 am until 10 pm daily. If you are new to the game or have never played, just give me a call or a text and we can set you up with all the necessary equipment and I'll be glad to give you the basics. Until then, happy pickling and see you on the courts. The September tournament was smaller than some, with just 10 foursomes providing a roster of folks to play a game with much socialization. The competition is important, but the camaraderie seems always to percolate to the surface. Win, lose or draw, we all tend to agree that the best part of the day's activity has been the fun and laughter we have had with the friendships that develop. Mother Nature gave us a great sunny day after an early morning chill. As the tournament came to a close, the first place position as well as the other three winning teams shared the spotlight in the "Random Draw" competition.
