| THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2023 | 33 Men's Golf By Greg Griffes, 951-383-9988 The Colony Men's Golf Club welcomes residents who wish to hang out with a group of fun- loving golfers and improve their golf game at the same time. We play on Wednesday mornings, and we play a variety of games, such as scrambles, shambles, and individual handicap games. By the time you read this, we will have played in one of our major championships, the President's Cup. It is a match-play event for a trophy and bragging rights for the rest of the year. It's a lot of fun and a great learning experience. To play golf on Wednesday, contact Greg Griffes at the above number or greggriffesgolf@gmail.com. To learn more about membership, contact George Herrera at 760-533-0350 or xoherrera7@gmail.com. Playing golf in the fresh cool of mornings is a wonderful nature experience too, as the geese also love the course! Pancake Breakfast It's getting close now! The Pancake Breakfast hosted by The Colony Men's Golf Club will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Auditorium from 8 to 10:30 am. Come along and enjoy the delicious pancakes and sausages and spend some time with your friends and neighbors! Tickets will be available from Men's Golf Club members during the Bake Sale and Crafts Fair on Saturday, Nov. 4, or from CMGC members in the Clubhouse or from the Activities Office. Tickets can also be purchased at the door of the Auditorium on the morning of the breakfast. Ticket prices are Adults $6 (cash or check payable to CMGC) and Kids (under 12) $3 (tickets available only at the door). It was another GREAT outing on the links for our October 2Ball fun event. We faced very warm temperatures but there were breezes to keep us cool during the last four holes. Congratulations to the winners of the competition as well as to all the players. The winners were humored by our latest Newbie, Wendell Jackson, who performed a little magic for them during the picture-taking sequence. If you are interested in joining us, give me a call or drop me an email at dmurph44@verizon.net and I will send you a 2023 tournament schedule (first Thursday afternoon of the month) and the rules of the game, and include you in our active mailing list. Our next contest is set for Thursday, Nov. 2. Requirements for this event are to be able to grasp a club! Being a member of the Men's or Women's Golf Club is not required. Just pick up some sticks and join us for a friendly afternoon of fun. I look forward to hearing from you. See ya on the links! October Winners Colony Couples 2Ball By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457
