| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2023 | 33 Healthy Living Healthy Living focuses on health-related printed materials that are shared with the class. As seniors, we should always be mindful of finding the "healthy road to travel." Do you have a plan if you are unable to provide complete information about you or your family member's personal information (emergency contacts, medical conditions, allergies, and prescription medications) when EMTs respond to your 911 call? If not, the EMTs may be delayed in providing the best medical care to you, perhaps even saving your life. This situation can be improved if you complete (20 minutes or less) and keep up-to-date, the File of Life and related important forms, and place a File of Life Sticker on a window right near your front entry door. Our Board of Directors recently approved purchasing, copying and mailing these forms to every one of our 1,106 homes. The Healthy Living Club initiated this program, with a goal that "Every resident will have a File of Life on their refrigerator." The first half hour of Healthy Living is dedicated to sharing individual health concerns. Dave Tuvim, our host, provides the materials for distribution. The second half hour finds us enjoying social interaction and a great breakfast in the Bistro. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am in the Multipurpose Room. If you have any questions about our program, please call Dave and Karen Tuvim at (626) 710-7163. Bid Whist PLUS Club We celebrated Four Seasons 20th Anniversary with a 286 display of complimentary photos taken at our Clubs sponsored musical concerts and Bid Whist players playing in the Game Room. What is Bid Whist? You might have heard of Whist already; it's a popular partnership trick-taking card game that dates back to the 18th century England. The English national card game has passed through many phases of development, being first recorded as trump (1529), then ruff, ruff, and honours, whisk and swabbers, whisk, and finally whist in the 18th century. In the 19th century Whist became the premier intellectual card game of the Western world, but Bridge superseded it in this position by about 1900. Partnership Whist, with four players in two partnerships, remains popular in Britain in the form of social and fundraising events called whist drives. Bid Whist is a variant of this game that adds new game-play elements. Bid Whist remains very popular in the US Military and African American communities alongside other trick-taking games like Pitch and Spades. Who are we? The Bid Whist PLUS Social Club meet the first Friday of every month from 2 to 5:30 pm in the Game Room at the Four Seasons of Hemet Lodge. We are a welcoming, diverse, and friendly social group who enjoy playing a variety of card/board games, great food, and good times. No experience necessary. We will teach any novice, and you'll catch on fast. While the majority of current members primarily play a card game known as Bid Whist, we encourage all our participants to explore their preferences for other table games as they are inclined. You will have fun, enjoy good company and great food (potluck). If you just want to talk, eat, and catch up on the goings on, that is very much okay too. So, what is your pleasure: Bones/Dominoes, Bridge, Spades, Uno, Backgammon, Checkers, Cribbage? Regardless of your experience level, please join us for an afternoon of exciting and spirit lifting camaraderie. For more information, call, or text Donny Brown at (619) 395-7494 or Maurice Bernard Brown at (619) 750- 5839.
