8 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2023 | What are we giving away? Neighbors Celebrating Neighbors. When was the last time you saw the parking lots for The Lodge so crowded? Folks were not able to park their cars in the parking lot and thus ventured into the adjoining neighborhood streets. This resultant along with the disappearance of hundreds of sandwiches, goodies, candy, and devouring of bags of popcorn claim the success of Four Seasons' 20th Anniversary Party, Neighbors Celebrating Neighbors. Our thanks to Tracie Rodgers, Four Seasons Activities Director, for herding the many organizations, clubs, and committees in preparation for the festivities. This was a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the 25th! Congratulations to the following raffle winners who each won two tickets for upcoming Social Committee sponsored events: • 2023 New Year's Eve Party: Maggie Grimes • Casino Night (April 13, 2024): Don Sims • Annual Fourth of July Party: Angela Chin • Halloween (Oct. 26, 2024): Ed Allen On Dec. 16, the major fundraising event sponsored by the Social Committee is the Holiday Home Tour. Hemet's own My City Youth Center benefits from this event. Not many folks know about My City Youth but to know more should really impress upon you the dream and focus of the co-founders, Dan and Becky Harris. Their stated mission: "… to be the best at guiding the young toward reaching their full potential… grow up to be productive, caring, kind and responsible citizens… guide them towards an education, or skill that will help lead them away from impoverishment… to do this free of cost… This is our community!" To this end, MCY provides after-school programs such as music, dancing, home economics, gardening, tutoring and discovery. The Young Parent Program focuses on counseling, parenting classes and guidance in completing education and finding jobs in becoming successful parents; and, the Mommy Shoppe provides for teen parents' baby supplies, wellness checkups for baby, immunizations, and clothing. You could assist in this ministry by providing your home as part of the Holiday Home Tour, by attending the Holiday Home Tour, or by donating directly to My City Youth Center. Your participation would be greatly appreciated. This is our community. Coming soon: Wednesday Bingo Nights, First Friday TGIF - Karaoke (Nov. 3), Community Arts and Crafts Show (Nov.4), Ticket Sales for New Years Eve Celebration (Nov. 7, 8 am), Veterans Day (Nov. 11), Brunch at the Bistro (Nov. 12), Ticket Sales for Holiday Home Tour (Nov. 20, 8 am), Thanksgiving Day Third Annual Power Outage (Nov. 23) (hee, hee).
