14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2023 | The GAC would like to remind all golfers to take action on their pending expiration of Book Credit/Scrip at the end of the year. In June 2022, the Master Board reinstated the expiration policy paused during the pandemic due to facility closures. What this means is that any Book Credit earned before Dec. 31, 2022 will expire on Dec. 31, 2023. Book Credit can be used for purchases in the Pro Shop or the Restaurant/Lounge. The Board has provided plenty of advanced notice and do not wish to see anyone lose their credit. On behalf of all the golf clubs at Sun Lakes, the GAC would like to remind members to renew their club memberships for 2024. If you are a new resident or a golfer who has put off joining, now is the time to sign up and get a full year of benefits. Many of our clubs start off the year with tournaments in January. Sun Lakes has seven different golf clubs that residents can join. These clubs all have member-elected Boards that independently conduct tournaments and events throughout the year. To be eligible for 2024 club sponsored play and tournaments you need to be a member in good standing. Golf Advisory Sun Lakes Committee Reports Merry Christmas And Happy New Year! Wishing all our friends a very happy and blessed holiday season. May the spirit of the holidays bring you and your family fun, hope, happiness, and love. Just a reminder, there is no Bingo in December. The Main Clubhouse Ballroom will be used for holiday parties, etc., but we'll be back in January 2024 for another great year. Games nights will be Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30. Bring all your friends and neighbors; everyone is welcome. We play 12 regular and three special games and guests can play all 15 games for as little as $7 for the whole evening. Many cash prizes and door prizes are won each week. Remember cash only - no checks or credit cards. Plus, our Lounge and bar are open for dinner and libations. Chef Chris provides us a different entree every week. Check the Good Day Sun Lakes website for the weekly menu for Bingo. The Restaurant staff is the best! Only SL member cards or CC are accepted for food and drinks. Doors open at 4:30 pm, games start at 6 pm and games are over by 8:45 pm. Come and be part of the fun in 2024. Any questions? Call Toni at (909) 709-1434 or Karen at (951) 797- 3817. Bingo Advisory The Procurement Advisory Committee (PAC) is chartered to serve the Board in a research and recommendation capacity, as are all advisory committees. The PAC does not define or manage the procurement process, but functions to advise and make recommendations to the Board on various procurement matters, including: Request for Proposal preparation, proposal response evaluation, and draft contract review. Over the past year we participated in the process with several major contracts and, as a result, have established an archive of all the documents and review reports produced so that they can be used when the same or similar project comes up again. We were recently advised that there will be no major projects requiring PAC involvement for the remainder of 2023 due to the workload of the management company. As a result, we expect the 2024 list of major procurements for approved scheduled reserve projects, capital improvement, and operations to be substantial. This will create a heavy workload for staff and the PAC. At this point, the PAC has been able to streamline the PAC processes and we feel confident we can rise to the occasion. However, we are continually seeking qualified residents who are interested in assisting. If you have an interest in joining our committee and have prior procurement related work experience, please go to the Sun Lakes website and select Community Info., Committees, Procurement Advisory Committee and read the introduction in the PAC Handbook. Feel free to contact any of the PAC members listed below to further discuss your interest. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month in the Administration Building Conference Room. Our next meeting is Dec. 18 at 9 am. Members of the community are welcome to attend and observe, making comments at the end of the session. Members of this committee are Bob Hix, Chair; Shannon McKinney, Secretary; Larry Davis, Raelene Kretchman, Tony Peters, and Ron Varner. Board Liaison is Bob Walter. FirstService Liaison is Chris Mitchell. Procurement Advisory
