| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2023 | 15 Sun Lakes Committee Reports Our committee is comprised of residents with varied skill sets and business backgrounds. We research, observe, and collaborate. Our focus is to make SLCC more enjoyable for all while enhancing revenue. December kicks off with our Annual Tree Lighting on Dec. 1 at 4:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse parking lot. You don't want to miss it. Each District lovingly decorates a Christmas tree displayed on Sun Lakes Blvd. and near the Main Clubhouse. Hot chocolate and treats will be served. Most everyone has heard the song e Twelve Days Of Christmas. While we are not distributing gold rings or hosting maids a-milking, wouldn't it be fun to celebrate each day with something special here at Sun Lakes? A great part of living here is you don't have to leave and fight traffic to eat, drink, and be merry. Sing, "On the first day of Christmas, my best friend treated me to Santa's special Minty Martini." Or "On the second day of Christmas my neighbor will join me for a slice of pie and ice cream." Go ahead, make up your own for each day. Remember that this is the season for giving. Maybe you know a shut-in who would be ever grateful to get out and have lunch or a snack at the Sandwedge. Get them out of the house, take them to the lounge for a drink. How about hot apple cider or hot buttered rum? Their gratitude will resonate through the new year. Book early for Chef Chris's New Year's Eve Spectacular Brunch by calling (951) 769-6654. When the holiday rush is over, order a Pickup Meal from our Restaurant and enjoy at home. We wish you all a happy new year. We're looking forward to a bright 2024 with opportunities to celebrate themed evenings and enjoy the community. As you make your resolutions, be sure to add visiting the Restaurant, Lounge, and Sandwedge more often. For Christmas dinner orders call (951) 769-6654 NOW. The meal features Chef Chris' orange glazed baked ham with mashed potatoes and gravy, yams, green beans and pecan or pumpkin pie. Each meal is just $19.95 plus tax and gratuity. Warming instructions will be included. Our Restaurant and Lounge are here for you. Is there a theme or ethnic food preference you'd like to enjoy? Let us know and Chef Chris, Thomas, and team will try to make it happen. I know I've wished you this before but every year I wish it more. May you never forget what is worth remembering and always forget what is best forgotten. Wishing you the best for the holidays and all year long. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Lifestyles Magazine is the resource most residents turn to in order to find out what's going on in our community. At 80 pages, it includes pictures from residents plus articles from the Master Board, Delegate Assembly, FirstService, the Restaurant, the golf pro, and advisory committees. Clubs and groups send articles and photos about their activities to Sunlakesnews@yahoo.com by the sixth of each month. The Lifestyles Advisory Committee meets on the seventh of each month, unless otherwise specified, to review and edit the articles submitted for each month's issue of the magazine. We meet with a Master Board liaison, Assistant General Manager Jason Ewals, and the Recreation Director to be updated about events coming up in our community. We also publish want ads and for sale items from residents at no cost and hide a monthly joke for residents to find. Responses to our "Get the Joke" contest are put in a hat and a winner is randomly drawn, earning a Restaurant gift card as a prize. Photographs taken by residents of areas within Sun Lakes are used on the magazine cover. If you're good at proofreading and are interested in joining us, please fill out a volunteer application form that you can get in the Main Clubhouse Lobby. Lifestyles Advisory Air Space Ad Hoc Committee As more and more members of our community purchase jet packs and flying cars, we are exploring ways to keep our Sun Lakes air space safe for all residents. For jet packs: The hours in which jet packs are allowed to be in operation are between 8 am and 8 pm. Residents employing the use of jet packs may not hover over any backyard that is not their own or without expression permission of the homeowner. For flying cars: You must fly over all streets as if you're a terrestrial car — no flying over homes within the community. Also speed limits still apply! Remember you must stop at stop signs and cannot park your car above your home at night - it must be in your garage. Do not throw garbage out of your windows while driving, whether it's in a flying car or not. If you have any questions, contact me at (909) 213-1428. ~ George Jetson
