62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2023 | October was a quite month for the RV Club. We stayed home and started working on our plans for November's trip to Emerald Desert Resort, which was from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1. Bonnie Aulwes and Gary Balcom are the trail bosses. Our Annual pizza party was a success. We had a couple of new members in attendance, they were Tim and Tammy Mahoney, and Tom Vida and Alexandria Lugo. Both couples are looking forward to getting out and enjoying our trips as a group. The coats and shirts with the Sub Lakes RV Club Logo on them were available to try on and order. They will be available at the December Christmas Party on Dec. 10 in the South Clubhouse. The Board is putting this on and we could use some volunteers to help set up and clean up afterwards. Remember to bring a unwrapped children's toy, which will be donated to the Fire Department for distribution. Looking towards 2024, we have our Home Town Rally Jan. 20-21 in the South Clubhouse. We are still looking for volunteers to help plan and assist making this a success. Let a board member know. Our board members are, Leon Fikse (president) (909) 831-3809, Bob Schive (vice president) at (951) 990-2805, Sandi Fetterman (treasurer) (802) 324-3068, Bea Mercado (secretary) (951) 255-2445. Reach out to us and we'll get a registration form to you. You can also talk to either of our board members about becoming a member of the RV Club. You don't need to have an RV, as numerous of the campgrounds now have cottages for rent. We have our first trip of the year to Fortuna de Oro in Yuma, AZ March 10-17. This is not a RV Club official rally. Meaning there are no trail bosses. We attempt to reserve a block of sites, but each party will need to call and make their own reservations. Each year this is a wonderful trip. We have various games and evenings of more games and some wine drinking. There are sites to see, and they have a HUGE swap meet where you can find some cool things. The sites are going fast, so if you want to go, you need to contact Fortuna de Oro at (928) 342-5051. Ask for Chelsea. Cost is $394.83 for Sunday to Sunday. Make sure you reference Sun Lakes RV Club. From April 28 to May 3, we have a trip to Highlands RV Resort in Bishop, CA. Our trail bosses are Dave and Pat Puckett. They are still in need of a committee. Contact them if interested in helping out at canyoncraft@att.net. From Sept. 22 to 27, we have a trip planned to Zion River RV Resort in Zion National Park, Utah. Need trail bosses and a committee. There is also an extended trip in the planning mode that would include going up to Cody, WY, Deadwood, SD, Cheyenne, WY, Flaming Gorge Reservoir, WY, Moab, UT, Navajo Dam, NM, and then onto Zion River Resort. Pretty good trip with lots of places to see. Trip is estimated to be 2,920 miles overall. Don't forget, fuel is much less expensive once you get out of California. We have quite a number of RV'ers celebrating their birthdays in December. Jim Alexanian 12/8, John Bonagofsky 12/26, Brenda Day 12/1, Candi Christopher 12/27, Phyllis Ramella 12/4, Jess Ocampo 12/4, Fran Rayner 12/5, Gary Shupe 12/3, Michael Smith 12/22, Dan Sumrall 12/28, and Mark Vanderpool 12/22. Wishing each of you a wonderful birthday. RV Club
