| LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2023 | 47 GOLF CLUB Jim Karalun, club president, wanted to share a few words. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for another successful year of golf in the Solera Golf Club. We played a variety of different tournaments in a variety of different weather conditions throughout the year. Everyone survived the heat, rain, wind and occasionally a beautiful and peaceful day. This is the time to thank my entire Board (Alan Forbes VP, Armand Silva Secretary, Jim Parker Tournament Chair, Marty Anderson Treasurer, Tony Smith Member At Large, and Richard Crowe Past President) for supporting me and the club throughout the year. I would like to specifically thank Jim Parker for setting up the locations and tournaments throughout the year and getting the scores out the same day. This was a very time consuming job which he did in an outstanding manner. When Jim was sailing the oceans he received some help from Tony Smith and Merle Chapman who filled in for him. I would also like to thank Armand Silva for the outstanding articles that he wrote for Solera's magazine, Life In Solera. I always waited to see what articles he would write about each month as he so wonderfully covered the clubs golf throughout the year. I would also like to thank Marty Anderson for keeping the club's finances in great shape. The club will hold the annual Christmas/ Membership party on Dec. 16 which I hope will be well attended this year. The club will be voting for the new slate of board members for 2024. Let's close out 2023 and start out 2024 with a rousing great party." Parker, picked a new game for the club to play. The game is Four- Hole Throw Away.
