THE CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT:
GAREY FORD
Two years before retirement in 2002, my wife and I attended the
Wilburn International Gourd festival in Fallbrook, California. I
purchased several bottles of leather dye, a wood burning tool and
several hard-shell gourds. I immediately fell in love with gourd art and have been creating
gourd art since that time.
I have always enjoyed arts and cras and especially drawing and carving. I have worked in
multiple mediums including carving stone, wood, gourds and bone. I have recently discovered
Tagua Nuts (Vegetable ivory) and have been enjoying carving these small nuts.
The Art Group: Royce Jerman offers "Painting Pals" on Tuesdays
from 10 am to 1 pm and "Beading Buddies" on Wednesdays from 10
am to 1 pm in The Lodge. No experience is necessary and all levels
