Holiday wishes and gingerbread kisses! Inspiration struck this morning on the way into the office. Thank goodness because it is article writing day and I was concerned I would have to submit a blank page. As I was driving west on Devonshire all of sudden I was admiring a green field, but wait, wasn't that field just brown? When did that happen? It is fall and all the other trees in the area are changing their leaves to browns, gold and some maroon. It is not a very long commute so I have to have these thoughts pretty quickly, plus my attention span seems to be getting shorter these days. So here was my profound thought - growth happens. Growth happens with hard work and perseverance, growth happens when we are busy and focused on other things, growth happens whether we want to deal with it or not (I was thinking about the grass at my house that grows and must be dealt with weekly). The growth of my teenager is exciting and so scary, but mentally I can see the maturity and my heart grows even bigger. My growth in the faith that he will soon be out in the world and be okay grows. That leads me to the passing of time. Can you believe it is December 2023? Sat., Dec. 9 is the return of the Hometown Holiday event. I had so much fun last year and I am excited to share another season with you. We're accepting donations for veterans, the Salvation Army, Valley Community Pantry and May City Youth. The Lodge Christmas trees have been dressed by the amazing volunteer team lead by JoAnn Sopata and you can join our holiday scavenger hunt during the Hometown Holiday event. Please see the info on the next page for details. The Holiday Home Tour on Dec. 16 - EEK! This is an absolutely must-see event. The Social Committee has eight homes in Four Seasons opening their doors to help raise funds for My City Youth. New Year's Eve will be wild, dressed in Mardi Gras style. Tickets probably went fast last month, if you didn't get them and still want to attend please get your name on the waiting list at the front desk. Many times, there are last minute changes with ticket holders and they check the list in hopes to find a buyer. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. ~ Tracie Rodgers 4 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2023 | From Your Activities Director
