8 | OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2023 | SERT does not receive any direct financial support from the HOA. It relies on membership and donations to fund the supplies needed to be prepared to help YOU in an emergency. at is why your membership is so vital. 2024 Do Dues Day is Jan. 13. Please consider joining/rejoining the SERT Club. And you don't have to wait until Do Dues Day to join, you can stop by at the Clubhouse any day from now on and leave your membership check! Membership is only $10 per person, and your membership will be good through 2024! ere is also a SERT lifetime membership available for $200 per person. Existing members can just drop off your checks and, in the memo, write "membership." New members will need to complete a Membership Form (available at the Clubhouse Front Desk) and leave it together with your membership check. In addition, every SERT member is entitled to a FREE Home Safety Survey. A trained SERT volunteer will review the safety aspects of your home with you. Request a survey by emailing ohccsert@gmail.com. We will also have the American Red Cross Emergency First Aid Guide available for a $5 donation. Don't delay, join TODAY! e Perfect Holiday Gi I know you all want to be safe, so, for a holiday gi, think about getting a new home security and emergency alert system. ere are several options on the market that range from $150-$300 and for an additional $65 a year offer 24/7 monitoring. ese new systems are all Wi-Fi based, you can control them from your cell phone, and the real beauty is that you can activate them by your voice when at home. Say you fall and need help. You use your voice to activate the system and tell it to call for help. ese systems also monitor your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and, for an additional expense, you can tie them into remote motion activated cameras and front door surveillance units. Another idea is to ask for emergency supplies for your emergency "Go-Bag." Now these could be gis that keep on giving! During the recent Earthquake Drill only 40% of our residents displayed their OK/HELP signs. We clearly need more participation from all of you for our mutual safety! How about volunteering to help your neighbors and yourself by becoming a SERT Safety Coordinator on your street! ank you for your support of SERT! Please stay safe and Happy Holidays! How Can You Help SERT? Tom Porter, President Sue Porter, Membership Chair
