FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2024 27 Welcome to 2024! The cold, windy, and, hopefully, wet January should be upon us. Speaking of wet, when we have a significant day or days of rain, a Canine Corral Committee member will lock the gate until the decomposed granite (DG) has had sufficient time to dry out. When the dogs are running around on the wet surface, or you are walking on it, deep impressions in the DG are created which may require some repair work. The wet, soggy DG can also be harmful to your dog's paws. The Canine Corral Steering Committee would like to remind all pet owners to be very aware of your surroundings while out walking your four-legged friend. Numerous sightings of coyotes and bobcats roaming our community have been reported. If you should come upon one of these animals, please, if possible, pick up your dog and walk in the other direction. A growing concern in California and other states is this "mystery respiratory illness" that has sickened dogs. Be aware of the symptoms: a cough that stays for several weeks, as well as sneezing and watery eyes. It has been reported that it can suddenly progress to pneumonia and even death. If your pet has any of these symptoms, please see a veterinarian immediately. Above all else, if your pet does show any of the above symptoms, please do not come to the Canine Corral or allow your dog, while walking, to come into contact nose-to-nose with another dog. We want to keep our Corral safe and inviting for all our furry friends. If you have not already done so, and you and your dog(s) are currently members of the Canine Corral, please consider joining our Canine Corral Facebook Group, Four Seasons Canine Corral (https:// www.facebook.com/groups/638146317048512) to share pictures of your dogs in the Corral or to set up play dates. We currently have three days on which groups are meeting at the Corral: Saturdays and Sundays at 9 am, and Wednesdays at 3 pm. Please join us on one of these days or set up alternative play dates with other members. It is much more fun for both us and our dogs if we are not alone at the Corral. ~ Barbara Morton, Co-Chairman, (559) 269-0908 Canine Corral Finance Committee During the Finance Committee's regular monthly meeting, the financial statements for October 2023, were reviewed and recommended for Board approval. In addition, the Committee reviewed expenditure proposals and reviewed investment recommendations to move maturing investments to higher yield FDIC-insured instruments. Highlights of the October financial statements are: Total Cash is $12,500,390 including operating cash of $2,110,455 (checking and CDs) and reserve assets of $10,389,935. Our total year-to-date income is $52,155. Homeowners are welcome to join us at the Finance Committee's regularly scheduled monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 1 pm. The Finance Committee reviews and discusses many issues that you may have questions about, and we welcome those questions. I would encourage all residents to become more familiar with the finances of our fantastic community. We would love to hear about your concerns and encourage you to share them with us. Attending a meeting only takes a little time and will give you a better understanding of how we operate. Come and join us in making this a thriving vibrant community. Our meetings are held in the RCN Conference Room. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Jolene Cooley at joleneaudit@gmail.com. ~ Jolene Cooley
