| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2024 | 3 February - the month of hope, love, and celebration! Groundhog Day is the 2nd (will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow?), the lunar New Year of the Dragon, (bringing prosperity), is Feb. 10, Fat Tuesday is on Feb. 13 followed by Valentine's Day on the 14th. The Restaurant has a wonderful Valentine's dinner in store for you, including a choice of appetizers (Oysters Rockefeller, anyone?) a choice of starter, and several entrées including Duck a la Orange and Ravioli d'Heart. Finish with dessert, a complimentary glass of champagne, and a chocolate-covered strawberry! Reservations are required. Please check with the hostess desk to make yours. February is the traditional month to pave the way for spring, which is just around the corner. Some of the things the Board has in their focus for this quarter are: Completion of filing with the county for the new Reserve Replenishment Assessment, which should go into effect in March. Based on home sales in the past several months, the average number of homes sold monthly runs right around 18-20, which would bring in a little over $41,000 per month. This influx of monies into our Reserves will have a very positive impact. The beginning of the Lounge renovation is fast approaching. The kitchen will be shut down for a few weeks towards the end of February/beginning of March (these dates are subject to change) while the doors leading from the Restaurant into the Lounge are being reconstructed. There will be some changes within the kitchen as well with equipment being rearranged and the floors being resurfaced. The kitchen will also be deep-cleaned during this time and reorganized to accommodate the upcoming changes. Along with the renovation comes a new Sun Lakes Renovation Menu which will be in effect throughout the construction. When the kitchen reopens, the Sandwedge Bar & Grill will be our EVERYTHING location for food and drink, though we will have overflow availability into the adjacent area of the Restaurant. The Organizational Policy/Process Assessment (OPA) is moving forward with alacrity. The consultant, Ms. Conlen, has been given all the data and information the OPA team gathered to date and is reviewing it to prepare a master schedule for the project. From this, the foundational policies will be developed, consistent with the vision and mission statements of Sun Lakes. Thanks to the sub-associations, advisory committee members, and others who took part in producing this material. Your input is essential to this project's success. Finally, the Board wants to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of all the committees and volunteers this past year. Thank you to the Recreation Advisory Committee (RAC) for their consistent support of the Recreation Department including the time and energy put into Monday Night Football, and to the Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Committee (RLAC) for their assistance during many of the sold-out restaurant events. Thanks to the Marketing Committee, the Communications Group, the Delegate Assembly, and all the individual homeowners who helped share information and promote the Reserve Replenishment Assessment. Special thanks to the behind-the-scenes committees such as the Common Area Advisory Committee (CAAC), the Golf Advisory Committee (GAC), and the Master Architectural Committee (MAC) for their help to maintain the beauty of Sun Lakes; the RV Storage Committee (RVSC) and the Safety Committee (SAC) for understanding and upholding the rules; the Library Advisory Committee, Lifestyles Advisory Committee and Bingo Committee for all the information they provide and the continuing fun they bring. Without all of you, Sun Lakes would not be the safe, beautiful and fun community that it is. "The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." Coretta Scott King Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Lori Hazelton, Gary Burkel From the Master Board
