| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 | 3 Springtime is finally upon us — a time for beauty, growth and rebirth in our amazing paradise known as Sun Lakes Country Club. Spring is also entitled Vernal Equinox when daytime and nighttime are equal. To quote Charles Dickens, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times." The best being spring's natural beauty impacting our gardens, golf courses and overall lives. The worst being our always contentious and sometimes distasteful election time. Let's stop the unnecessary disingenuous messaging. Keep the mudslinging in the craft room and off the political signs as this can be harmful to the entire community. Wouldn't it be great if this year we could be more positive and respectful of other's opinions and property? It is okay to disagree and present different visions for our community. Some want the community to be open to the public, while many do not. Some want us to be self- managed and others do not. Some want FirstService Residential to be replaced while others do not. Let the membership decide in the upcoming election and then return to enjoying our beautiful community. Some of the previous community enhancements include: • Upgrading the carpeting, painting and new chairs for the Main Clubhouse Ballroom • New tables and carpeting for the Billiards Room • New pickleball complex – funded by CIP • New shades for the Bocce Courts - funded by CIP • New ice machine for the main pool - funded by CIP • Renovation of the Sandwedge Bar & Grill - mostly funded by CIP • New TVs for the North and South Clubhouses - funded by CIP • New chairs for the North and South Clubhouses • Proposed and passed the Replenishment Assessment fee The major pending project is our lounge expansion. We are still awaiting plan check from the city and the starting date has been delayed. We will keep you posted on the progress of this important project. This expansion will upgrade and enlarge our Lounge with an anticipated reduction in losses in the Food & Beverage operation. The Board is pleased to report that even with the completion of the many community improvements we were still $251,968 under budget for 2023. In conclusion, let's avoid the negative campaign rhetoric by focusing on the positive. We need to come together as a community by doing what is right. "Learn what is true in order to do what is right." - Thomas Huxley Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Lori Hazelton, Gary Burkel From the Master Board
