62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2024 | Here it is February already and there are only 329 days until Christmas. We held our Home Town Rally Jan. 20-21. Sadly, due to the inclement weather, the turn out wasn't what we had hoped. On Saturday we held a Scavenger Hunt. Yes, we did it in the rain. Of course there were a few grumbles about getting hair wet and having to take shoes off and dip our bare feet into the pool as one of the items we needed to film. I can say that Leon's idea of a scavenger hunt was a bit different than I've been involved in, but I truly believe everyone had a good time going from place to place to take pictures to verify we were at the site we had to find. Dinner was supplied by the Club from El Pollo Loco. On Sunday, it was game day, so we enjoyed the horse races, Left- Center-Right, and of course we also had the football games on the TV. The big winner of the horse races was Diana Smith. On the first race, she bet on horse #5, which no one else did. On the Left-Center-Right games, the big winner was Bea Mercado. We also played corn hole for a while, remind me to not bet against Keith Nemire. He rarely missed putting one through the hole. Dinner was potluck, and boy were there good dishes provided. Our trip to Fortuna Del Oro in Yuma, AZ is rapidly approaching. We will be there from March 10-17, some going in earlier and some staying later. This is a fun-filled trip. The resort is great. Lots to do in the resort and numerous RV clubbers across the border for medicines. Don't forget your passports. If you're not going this year, make sure to go next year as this is an annual event. Our trip to Highlands RV Resort in Bishop is not long after Fortuna. This is a Club sanctioned event. Our Trail Bosses are Pat and Dave Puckett, who have also found their committee members to help make this a fun filled, enjoyable trip. This trip is for April 28 through May 3. Information about the trip will be forthcoming shortly. The trip to Zion is Sept. 22-27. We still need a trail boss and committee. Don't forget our bylaws specify that each member is expected to be a trail boss or be on a committee. It's not as hard to, one might expect. The Board will start canvassing for volunteers. Don't forget that Richard Fetterman is organizing an extended trip before the Zion trip that will eventually wind up at Zion. His number is (802) 324-3068, if you're interested in finding out more information, please contact Richard. One last thing, for our new residents, you do not need an RV to join the RV Club. Most campgrounds now have cottages that can be rented. So if you're interest in joining the RV Club contact Leon Fikse at (909) 831-3809, Bob Schive at (951) 990-2805, Sandi Fetterman at (802) 324-2523, or Bea Mercado at (951) 255-2445 for more information. Warm birthday wished go out to our March birthday kids. They are Lynn Derrick 3/30, Diana Smith 3/30, Pam London 3/31, Tammy Mahoney 3/29, Jack McElwain 3/25, Mary Ann Melleby 3/28, Barb Reed 3/4, Erin Simpson 3/31, and Robin Pay 3/28. RV Club
