| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MARCH 2024 | 29 We had a great sign-up day with 18 teams signing up to play Bocce. Most players returning remember last year where the teams were ready to go but the weather was not so kind for us and the season was a washout because of all the rain we had. This year we encountered rain, but we are going to be positive and hope that it does not continue for most of the bocce season. We will continue to have sign-up sheets located at The Lodge in one of the information areas so that we can collect those who would like to substitute for players when the regular team players have emergencies. I want to thank all the players who turned out for Bocce, and just to let you know, Bocce is pretty much a tradition here at Four Seasons. The first games played were in the summer of 2006 but players realized that was not so much a good time to play outdoors and changed to the spring in 2007. Thanks players. ~ Ross Brunetto, Bocce Chairperson (951) 926- 8295. We are fast approaching our second year in play with 33 members as a club in Four Seasons. The Club plays singles and doubles formats, once a week on Wednesday morning starting at 8 or 9 am. We are thinking about playing later in the day in the spring and fall. Two weeks ago, we had the unthinkable (for seniors) happen. During one of our games, Cynthia Daly threw four cornholes (bag goes through the hole on the board) in one frame! She was financially rewarded and gets the look of jealousy from all our players (especially the guys). Our main emphasis is having fun, which in our opinion constitutes a lot of old folks playing together and LOAO. The Pickleball Club would like you to learn foundational skills and join the fun. We encourage all beginners to come down to the courts to learn about the game on Saturday mornings. The winter and spring playtime begins at 7:30. Stay safe on the court and come prepared. The winter evening pickleball playtime begins at 4 pm, Monday through Thursday. The evening pickleball players get together every third Sunday of the month at 5 pm in The Lodge Activity Room to enjoy a potluck dinner and hone their competitive skills playing the fun board game, Sequence. Pickleball Tennis players here at Four Seasons share a special friendship and support that goes beyond the courts. We encourage everyone, from beginners to "It's been a loooong time since I played" to join in. Folks are on the courts most mornings. Drop by and get some good exercise and some socializing in too!! Tennis Club IN MEMORIAM: We are sad to announce that our 90 year old pickleball legend and friend, Dick Burnside, passed away on Feb. 5. Before his recent stroke, he was actively playing pickleball (and snowboarding). We love you Dick! May you rest in peace forever.
