Village Vets
Village Vets! We are off to a flying start, and I mean that quite
literally. OHCC Resident and Village Vets member Robert Genat
presented a dynamic presentation during our General Meeting on
Jan. 25. With one of the larger General Meetings we've had, Robert
took us up in the air with war planes and trainers from mostly
Eastern Bloc countries. The audience was captivated not only by
Robert's superb presentation and stories, but also by the amazing
photographs he shared with us. Many came away feeling that they
were in the cockpit with him. If you attended and would like to see
more of the pictures Robert has taken over the years, please don't
hesitate to reach out to him at robertgenat@yahoo.com.
Our next General Meeting will be on March 28 at 3 pm. Our
lineup features Colonel Pat Battles, USAF-Retired, who will do a
presentation on the Challenge Coin. I don't want to steal her thunder,
but receiving a Challenge Coin is a big deal! Immediately following
Pat will be the County Veterans Outreach Officer, Tim Matheus. Tim
will talk and answer questions about your Veterans Administration
benefits. To help provide focus for Tim's talk, please submit any VA
related questions to Bob Bechill at bechillnavy@gmail.com by March
15.
It's not too early to think about our May Hot Dog Picnic on May
23. Our featured group will be none other than the Foundation for
Women's Warriors. Keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully we can be
one of the kick-off functions in our new Lanai!
Finally, take a look at your flag or your neighbor's flag. If Old
Glory is looking more than a little old and tattered, please consider
a replacement. Contact Bob St. Laurent for additional information.
