60 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2024 April showers bring May flowers, so they say, and we should get a bunch of 'em. Hi, it is me again after a little while. Thought I'd let you know we are still here, still throwing those horseshoes, and still having the most fun club members could possibly have. Quarterly Tournaments are still one of our big things and I thought I would let you know who our winners are for our first one of 2024. Doubles winners were: 1st Place – Harry Henderson and Randy Rosacker with second place going to Ron Erickson and Dave Roldan. Singles winners were: 1st Place – Ron Erickson, 2nd Place – Dave Thomason, 3rd Place – Dave Roldan. See photos of these fine young men. We meet every Wednesday at 9 am at The Summit, which is the most beautiful location in all of Four Seasons. We are always looking for new members and all are welcome, even if you haven't played in a long time, which is what we all said. So, it is just us guys having fun. Our contacts are Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@ sbcglobal.net or Gary Christi at (951) 522-5161, goldtoy@earthlink. net ~ Ron Erickson Horseshoes Doubles second place winners Ron Erickson and Dave Roldan Doubles first place winners Harry Henderson and Randy Rosacker Single winners (L-R) first place, Ron Eriskson; second place, Dave omason; third place, Dave Roldan. May is believed to have been named for the goddess Maia, who oversaw the growth of plants. During this month, there are many celebrations including Arthritis Awareness Month, Better Sleep Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, National Walking Month, Women's Health Care Month, and Military Appreciation Month. So far, our spring weather has been pretty much absent, but by the time you are reading this article, we should be in the middle of spring. We are still on our winter schedule, which means that we begin playing shuffleboard at 9 am on Monday and Saturday mornings. We play at the newer shuffleboard courts at The Lodge, where we enjoy our own quiet and somewhat private area. Shuffleboard is an easy game to learn and anyone can quickly become proficient at this game. Our games usually last about an hour and we choose up different teams each time that we play. This allows us to keep the competition challenging and the games more interesting. We play for fun, but of course everyone likes to win. We have no losers, only non-winners. We have a great group of residents who play regularly, but we are always looking for new players. So if anyone is interested in joining a fun activity with lots of friendly people, please just show up on a Monday and/or Saturday morning before 9 am. We will give you an introduction to shuffleboard if you have never played before, or a refresher, if needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuffleboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948-1693, mrtmj@aol.com Shuffleboard
