We have screenings on the second Sunday of each month. We screen films you won't find at the big cineplexes: documentaries, indie films, foreign films and other little gems that don't get wide release. On Sunday, May 12 at 6 pm, we'll screen e Taste of ings (France 2023, 2 hr. 15 min., English subtitles). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "e Taste of ings invites audiences to transcend into a space that most of us have never known. Not only a space of pure romance in 1889, but one that is tied together with an equal adoration for the artistic and emotional nature of food, and the endless beauty that stems from the smallest details. Whether it's because Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel were married for five years in real life or simply because they're incredible actors, the chemistry and understanding for one another are potently sincere and encourage viewers to seek nothing less than what they're experiencing. Discover passion, meticulous care embedded under a foundation of years-long expertise, and a chase toward love that never ends even when most relationships do." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film. We'd love for you to join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early. We hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. Join us on May 28 and June 4 at 6 pm in The Lodge Theater as we enjoy 1933 Academy Awards winners. We'll watch the year's Best Picture with an all-star cast in Grand Hotel along with Walt Disney's first honorary Academy Award for Best Short Subject (cartoon) Flowers and Trees, his first animated short. Berlin's plushest, most expensive hotel is the setting where, in the words of Dr. Otternschlag (Lewis Stone), "Grand Hotel … always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens. And what do you do in the Grand Hotel? Eat. Sleep. Loaf around. Flirt a little, dance a little. A hundred doors leading to one hall. No one knows anything about the person next to them. And when you leave, someone occupies your room, lies in your bed. That's usually the end." This time the story begins as a group of very different individuals, staying at a luxurious hotel in Berlin, deal with each of their respective dramas. The Wednesday Western Matinee will be May 8 at 2 pm and we'll watch One Eyed Jacks directed by and starring Marlon Brando in his first western in 1961. ~ Paul Plamondon, 4seasonsmoviegroup@gmail.com
