| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2024 | 3 Welcome to May. Sun Lakes has a lot going on this month as the weather warms up and we can come outside and play. Congratulations to the Master Board members as well as all the new and returning Delegates who were elected during the Annual Meeting and Election in April. It was another hard-fought election and the residents once again let their voices be heard. Thanks to all the Delegates and homeowners who helped get the vote out in their districts. Only one district was short of the quorum vote needed. Your three new Master Board members are Bob Walter, President; Randy Robbins, Vice President; and Don Day, Secretary. Each will serve a two-year term. Well done to all of you! The Lounge expansion is well underway. Thank you to all for your patience and understanding during this renovation. In April, many of you discovered that not only did you have the Sandwedge to hang out in and enjoy a meal, you also could eat in a smaller area of the restaurant, accessed through the Sandwedge. There are several tables in this area away from the TVs and hustle bustle of the Bar & Grill. You also discovered the outdoor seating in front of the Sandwedge which is being expanded to include lots of new activities and fun. May brings even more to discover! The Lobby Bar is ready for customers. When the Open sign is on, come enjoy a beer, wine or cocktail. There's seating at the bar or take it into the Library or onto the veranda. Light snacks are available too. Happy Hour is offered not only in the Sandwedge, but on the Veranda as well! Starting on May 1, Renee will be entertaining the first Wednesday of every month through the summer at 5 pm on the Veranda. Weekend music will also be moved out onto the veranda this month, weather permitting. Finally, both the Main Clubhouse and North Clubhouse pools open on May 1. This is Prime Time in Sun Lakes – come out and enjoy! The work on the South Clubhouse Pool that the residents requested be postponed last fall (and the Board listened), begins on May 6. Now that the weather has warmed up and the two outdoor pools are open, the indoor pool will be closed, drained and completely replastered. All the old flooring will be removed and new tile laid and the entire space painted. Finally, the flooring down the main hallway of the South Clubhouse will be removed and replaced. This flooring was compromised when we had leakage in the pool area. There are more details within the pool area that are being updated, and Sun Lakes will end up with a fully renovated indoor pool space. This job will take a few months to complete. As we move into summer with all the fun and camaraderie that Sun Lakes has to offer, we invite you to embrace the spirit of Sun Lakes. The remnants animosity and hostility that have permeated the past several months are old news — let them go and move forward. Our community is defined by all of us who live here — our thoughts and actions, our values and beliefs. We moved here to enjoy a safe, welcoming community that thrives on camaraderie, trust, partnership, and a common ideal. Let's welcome our diversity and come together to support this magnificent community, the "best kept secret in the Inland Empire." "Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given." ~ Hussein Nishah "Synergy does not mean giving up what we want. It means joining to co-create so each is able to receive even more of what attracts us through joining rather than opposing." ~ Stephen Covey Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Gary Burkel, Don Day From the Master Board
