58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2024 "Sea" you on the courts! Have paddle? Have court shoes? Have ball? Let's go! One of the many advantages of pickleball is you can play it almost anywhere! Several Four Seasons Pickleball Club members enjoyed a fabulous time on the Royal Caribbean Pickleball cruise to Catalina and Ensenada. Oh, the places we go! Four Seasons Pickleball Club members also go off campus to play in tournaments, leagues and camps. In April, Four Seasons Pickleball Club players Tony and James, took bronze in the men's doubles at the Fallbrook tournament. Travel to the courts and play with us! Club play is every morning from 7 to 11 am. Each Saturday morning at 9:30 am is a class for those new to pickleball with Nancy H. ~ Karen Rose, gmew@hotmail.com Pickleball In April, Paddle Tennis held its first annual Trifecta Tournament: Racket & Paddle Battle. And boy, did we battle to the end. We had 16 participants who made up eight, two-person teams. Saturday was our Paddle and Pickleball battle event. Sunday, we battled at the tennis courts. Breakfast was enjoyed on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. Our medal presentation was held after lunch. Our grand champions were Julie Stayner and Stan Lam. Stan and Julie also placed first in Paddle tennis. Pickleball first-place winners were Syed Ali and Hailu. Tennis first-place winners were Larry Martin and Steve Hovey. It was a terrific tournament and enjoyed by all players. We hope more folks can join in the fun next year. A big thank you to our volunteers Bernadette Chance, Nancy Walker, Chikako Ferguson, Donna Pfeiffer, Gabby Flores, Chelsey Vaughn and our alternative players, Beverly Haller and Perry White. A special thanks to our photographer Bill. Currently with warmer weather, you'll find players around 3 or 5 pm. You may come and play at any time you want on any day. Everyone is welcome. We are happy to show you how to play Paddle Tennis (also known as Pop Tennis). Contact me for information or when you would like to join in this fun sport. ~ Lizzie Gallegos, ecgallegos@outlook.com Paddle Tennis Cruise pickleball … members of the club out at sea Tony and James take the bronze in the Fallbrook Tournament
