6 | THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2024 |
Did you see the announcement in your recent Waste
Management bill about SB 1383 on organics recycling? Remember,
this is the law requiring Californians to separate collected food
scraps, yard debris and food-soiled paper from trash for organics
recycling. This started in April 2023 in Murrieta when your green
bin (cart) became your "Organics" cart.
SB 1383 also requires that carts be monitored for contamination
(placing the wrong material in the wrong cart). Waste Management
now has Smart Truck Technology to detect contamination in your
recycling and/or organics carts and any overfilled carts. They
have an educational campaign to explain the changes and an
implementation plan.
We will be having Isaac Bravo from the City of Murrieta
and Art Martinez with Waste Management at e Colony
on Wednesday, June 5, at 1 pm in the Auditorium to explain
these changes. ey will answer all of your questions.
