62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2024 | We just completed our second RV trip this year, to Bishop, CA, staying at the Highlands RV Resort. This was one of the best trips we've ever taken. The weather was perfect, the campground very nice and shaded. Being so close to Schat's Bakery was fun and proved again to be the favorite place for fresh sandwiches and pastries. Monday game day started with baseball and won by Gloria Pendelton, Diana Smith, Harriet Fikse, Dan Cardella, Colin Pay, Randy Miller, and Richard Fetterman. The afternoon was fun with a corn hole tournament, won by Gloria Pendelton, Randy Miller, Daryl Miller, and Bob Schive. Our compliments to Sandy and Jim Alexanian for setting up these fun games. Tuesday was free day, so members visited the Movie Museum, Train Museum, fished, traveled up to June Lake, or golfed. Almost every evening we had a get-together between two rigs. We drank beer and wine and played board games until after the sun went down. Wednesday was golf day, with four teams of four players. The course was nice and plush, the greens fast, but easier to read than those at Sun Lakes. The winning team finished with a par 71 for the course. The winning team was Susie Martin, SallyJo Schwartz, Colin Pay, and Bob Schive. The shots of Fireball may have helped our game. Our thanks go to Steve and SallyJo Schwartz for setting up the golf game. The evening was concluded with a potluck and more board games. Thursday was awards night. The food was delicious and everyone had a great time. Awards were passed out followed by the arrival of the sheriff (aka Steve Martin) on his trusty horse and his deputy Pollyanna (aka Susie Martin). Our thanks go out to the committee for helping make this a memorable rally. Pat and Dave Puckett were the Trail Bosses. Members of the Committee were Steve and SallyJo Schwartz, Sandy and Richard Fetterman, Sandy and Jim Alexanian, and Marcy Tierney and Bob Messier. Our next rally will be to Zion Sept. 22-27.
