| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2024 | 3 The Board would like to acknowledge and thank Lori Hazelton for her service and dedication to our community. Lori was a Board member for three years, a District Delegate, a co-chair of the District Delegate Assembly, and president of the SLCC Tennis Club. One of the concerns of the current Board is the safety of our community. We have approved the Opticom system for the four unmanned gates to improve access for the fire department and emergency vehicles. We are ordering additional defibrillators and will be offering training for their usage. Additional patrolling by Banning Police Department and Securitas will attempt to address the recent increase in speeding and running of stop signs. Please adhere to the posted speed limits and remind your vendors to do likewise. The Lounge expansion is finally underway. There was a delay in obtaining approval and sign off from the city of Banning. As of this writing, the demolition phase has begun. We will keep you posted on the overall progress of this very important project. You may have noticed a significant increase in your home insurance, especially fire insurance. Gary Burkel and Bob Walter will be conducting a feasibility study to determine if SLCC should consider a Pure Captive Insurance Program to reduce the costs of our insurance premiums. The Charity Week events will be from June 6 through June 9. On the 6th we will have the very popular Monster Scramble on the Executive Course. On the 7th, we'll have the pancake breakfast and helicopter ball drop. On June 8 is the Pro-Am Shootout. The Pro- Am Tournament will be on the 9th. Don't forget to join in on these amazing events while supporting the charities in the Pass Area. The Governing Policy Manual developed by Sequoia Grove Consulting and the OPA task force has been approved and adopted by the Board. This will enable us to improve accountability and policies for the management company, the Board, and our advisory committees. The Procurement Advisory Committee is conducting a technology assessment initiative. The initiative will inventory and audit all technology, conduct a state of HOA technology assessment, and conceivably integrate all SLCC technology systems. On May 2, the District Delegate Assembly voted in a new Chair and Vice Chair. Congratulations to Cal Martin the new Chair and Linda Spaulding the new Vice Chair. A special thanks to Chair Joe Formino for his many years of outstanding leadership for our District Delegate Assembly and our entire community. It appears that Joe, who turns 100 this year, has discovered the fountain of youth — community service.
