What a fun and informational evening it was at our first Actors Studio Theater Academy! New faces as well as some "old timers" attended our first workshop on Monday, June 3. Greg Bennett led the technical part of the workshop, during which we learned about cables, their use, and the meaning of particular stage names. Our acting games were led by Chuck Gordon. They were hysterical! Despite or even while laughing a lot, we learned some new techniques for ad lib and pantomime. The workshops are held on the first and fourth Mondays each month in the Auditorium at 6 pm. It is not necessary to attend all the workshops; if you are only interested in the technical aspects, then just attend the first hour. If you are only interested in the acting aspects of putting on a theatrical production, then plan on coming at 7 pm. Of course, if you are interested in both technical and acting aspects, we encourage you to attend from 6 to 8 pm. We guarantee you will enjoy the workshops, so mark your calendars! We hope to see both returning participants and new people with us. Everyone is welcome to see what our studio group is all about. Other opportunities are also available, such as promotions, set design, makeup, costume designing, hosts and hostesses, ticket selling and nonspeaking roles. We are in the process of finding a new play to be presented in March 2025. On-stage rehearsals will begin after the Colony's Variety Show in October. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to call Chuck Gordon at (661) 714-3847 or Greg Hill at (951) 526-9896. | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2024 | 27 It's coming!
