30 | THE COLONY NEWS | JULY 2024 | Did you know that Bocce Ball has become the third most popular sport in the world? Even George Washington built a bocce court at his home in Mt. Vernon! Virtually any age and athletic ability can play. No wonder the Thursday Bocce Club is so popular! And now that the weather has warmed up, we are welcoming more and more new people. Our games are fun and enjoyed by all ages… in fact, some of our 90-year-old residents are beating some of the younger players. Age is NO excuse! But wait, you don't have to play to enjoy Bocce. We have tables and chairs with umbrellas and there is usually a nice breeze to keep you cool. Folks love to sit around and visit while watching the games. Everyone is invited to come play or just watch and socialize. Feel free to bring a snack and a beverage of your choice, or just yourself. We always have water and ice available. Our next Bocce Brunch will be coming up Sunday, July 21, at 11 am at the Bocce Court. It's potluck, so bring a dish to share and your favorite beverage and join us for some fun and games!
