62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | It's July already and I'm wondering where the last six months have gone, while knowing the next six months will go by just as fast. Looking towards the future — if you haven't heard by now, the RV trip to Zion has gone by the wayside. Apparently the resort has new owners & they claim to have no record of our reservations, or our $500 deposit. For those who still want to make the trip to Zion, they have spaces available for rigs 30' or less. There are a few other RV Resorts in the area if you are interested: Settler's Junction RV Resort, (435) 351-1188, Zion White Bison Resort (435) 635-3004. This is a new resort and does not have sewer yet. The nearest dump station is seven miles away, Zion Crest Campground & RV Park, (435) 648-2700. With Zion out of the picture, have no fear, we have negotiated to reserve 20 sites at Distant Drums RV Resort in Camp Verde, AZ, Sept. 29 through Oct. 4. This is a great place & Sedona is close by with its beautiful red rock scenery. The campground is only a couple hours from the Grand Canyon and there is a train out of Williams to the Grand Canyon. We are looking for Trail Bosses for this trip. If no one steps forward to take on this task, it will be a non-sanctioned rally similar to Yuma. Make sure to mark your calendars for the RV Club BBQ/potluck on July 30, from 6 to 9 pm at the South Clubhouse. There will be sign ups to organize the BBQ/potluck. This event is a BYOB and each family will need to bring their own table service. We know that several have already made extended plans leading up to Zion. With all of the beautiful scenery at Zion, it is hard to pass up, but if there is anyway you can rearrange your plans, having everyone together at Distant Drums would be a lot of fun. Don't forget our plans for early 2025, the Annual Yuma getaway, Spring Rally to Paso Robles Wine Country RV Park, and the Fall Rally to Jackson Rancheria, Jackson, CA. Wishing the best birthdays to those born not so many years ago during the month of July. They are Gino DeMonaco 7/25, Richard Fetterman 7/13, Vivian Myrdahl 7/24, Robin Nemire 7/26, Lauri Palmer 7/17, Colin Pay 7/18, Darrell Pendleton 7/4, Carmen Snook 7/17, Don Tennis 7/17, and Joanne Vetter 7/8. I also want to mention that Yolanda's remarkable Best Play of the Day in Bishop on a 157-yard par 3, the team used Yolanda's drive, which she followed up with a chip in for a birdie. Very nice, Yolanda! RV Club
