| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2024 | 3 Happy birthday America! Let freedom ring as we celebrate 246 years of democracy and freedom! One of the most powerful freedoms we have and should celebrate is our freedom of choice. We have the independence to choose what we believe, choose our profession or career, choose our mate, our friends, our community, and choose where and how we want to live our lives. We all have choices and we have chosen to live in this little slice of heaven called Sun Lakes Country Club. "Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make, makes you." ~ John C. Maxwell The Fourth of July ushers in the month with the "Proud to be an American" parade and celebration. The parade starts at 10 am at the Main Clubhouse and follows Country Club Drive to Riviera, to Country Club, finishing at the Main Clubhouse. Bring your beach chairs and find a place along the route to watch the beautiful, creative floats and golf carts your neighbors have spent hours decorating. Then, join us in the Ballroom for BBQ, games, and more. Summer is a time full of choices – all about how to have fun! Swimming, golf, pickleball, barbecuing, entertaining, and so much more! Our first Music Under the Stars was on June 29 and will continue through the summer on the last Saturday of the month. Music starts at 6:30 pm on the Veranda. You may choose to sit on the Veranda, close to the band and order off the menu, or bring your own food, tables, and chairs and have a picnic on the driving range. The Ice Cream Socials are another great summer tradition and are offered monthly on the second Monday at 2 pm in the Sandwedge. More cool choices for the summer are the outdoor pools. Service for drinks and snacks is offered on the weekends at the Main Clubhouse pool. Otherwise, you may order from the Lobby bar. Remember, NO outside alcohol is allowed at any of the pools. Also, please remember that you must accompany your guests to the pool. ey may not be there without a resident. Update on the Lounge expansion … things are looking good! Everything has been completely gutted and it's possible now to see the vision of the new space. Framing started the middle of June; the metal studs are up and should be finished by the time you read this article. The fire sprinklers in the ceiling have been installed and the electrical and mechanical are close to completion. The city is providing inspections as each stage is finished. In the bar, both the concrete floor base and the floor sinks are complete. This project is right on schedule AND right on budget. Life is about choices and as we celebrate our country's birthday, think about the difficult choices our ancestors had to make to create this beautiful democracy. Sun Lakes is a melting pot of people and cultures, just like America, and we have the power to choose the direction we want this community to go. What do you love about living here? What do you want to see more of? This is your community. Be proud to be a Sun Laker! "I discovered I always have choices, and sometimes it's only a choice of attitude." ~ Judith M.
