| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2024 | 33 In late May, we celebrated Sewing, Etc...'s 35th year of accomplishments and friendship. Our luncheon brought smiles, laughter, and some very sweet memories of those who are no longer with us. We also were able to join in OHCC's 40th year celebration where the accomplishments of our crafters were displayed, and several new members have joined since then… welcome! Our July meeting is on the second Thursday (July 11) for this month only social time begins at 9:15 am and the meeting at 9:30 am in the Mykonos Room. Please make a note on your calendar. Regular meetings in other months are held on the first Thursday of each month, at the same time. Sewing, Etc. is looking for a gently used dress mannequin for the Fashion Design Program that we support at Carlsbad High School. If you have one lurking in your closet that you no longer need, please call Sharon Philippe (760) 500-3086 and she will be happy to pick it up. Thanks in advance. Want to learn to knit or crochet? Perhaps you just might want to refresh your skills. On Thurs., July 18 there will be a class in the sewing room from 9:30 am to noon for you to do that! On Sat., July 20 our "free to members" class will be making a small, zippered bag suitable for any small items that you need to organize or give to friends as a gift. Quilting support is still happening on Friday mornings from 9 to 11:30 am and (as long as there's interest) will continue to be offered along with our regular get-togethers. Our Kneedlers (knitters) and Hookers (crocheters) gather on Tuesdays from 3 to 4:30 pm and are always looking for excuses to practice their skills and to offer guidance. Also, on Tuesday evenings (6 to 8 pm) and Fridays (12 to 3 pm) several quilters, knitters, crocheters and sewers get together for "Sew & Chats." Both of these gatherings are loosely structured and help to keep us in touch. All are on a drop-in basis, so feel free to join us. Don't forget about our "rideshare" service to meetings and workshops that are held in our Clubhouse.
