The Cinema Club has screenings on the second Sunday of
each month. We screen films you won't find at the big cineplexes:
documentaries, indie films, foreign films, and other little gems that
don't get wide release.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO SCREENING IN JULY;
STAY TUNED FOR INFO ABOUT OUR AUGUST SCREENING. All
of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film;
we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited
seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope
to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject
to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture
Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please email Micki Rosen
at michelesrosen@gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen

On July 23 and Aug. 6 at 6 pm in The Lodge Theater, the Classic Film Group presents It
Happened One Night, the 1935 Academy Awards Best Picture. This was the first film out of

and Best Writing). Anyone know the other two?
In It Happened One Night, a rogue reporter

Colbert ) for a big story, joining her on a bus
heading from Florida to New York. They end up
stuck with each other when the bus leaves them
behind at one of the stops along the way.
For the second movie, we'll see e Tortoise
and the Hare for which Walt Disney received
his second Academy Award for a short subject
(cartoon).
We'll screen e Painted Desert for our Wednesday Western Matinee
on July 10 at 2 pm in The Lodge Theater. This 1931 Western stars William
Boyd and Clark Gable and was Gable's first talkie. ~ Paul Plamondon,
