Play for a fun leisure activity, great exercise, camaraderie, and for those endorphins, giving you a feel-good mood that lingers. Or play competitively, up your game playing on the challenge courts, and partake in both pickleball clinics and tournaments which are easily found online across the United States and beyond. The Beaumont Four Seasons Pickleball Club, led by our Tournament Director Kelly Vucinic, hosted a well-run tournament in June for both residents and non-residents. Battling some early summer heat and tough competition, many of the winners came from our own Four Season's group (see below photos). 3.0-3.5 Women's winners: Gold, Nancy Barnaby and Lydia Luna (left and center left); Silver, Barb Doerr and Julie Stayner (center right and right). 3.5-4.0 Women's winners: Gold, Kellie Boggs and Karen Rose (center right and right); Silver, Michelle Carter (non- resident) and Kelly Vucinic (left and center left). The Men's group was larger as a whole. Steve Roa and Bob Mendenhall (left and center left) won Bronze in the 3.0-3.5 category, while in the Men's 3.5-4.0, Robert Mahan and David Burchartz (center right and right) won Gold. New player classes with Nancy Hessin continue on Saturday mornings, now at 8:30 during the summer. Come on out to our beautiful courts and join the fun! ~ Gayle Wardenski/gmew@ hotmail.com Pickleball We have a lot of special people at Four Seasons. They come from all walks of life. For some, one way they enjoy the retirement years they have worked so hard for is by hitting a little white ball over a net perched on the middle of a 9 feet long, 5 feet wide, and 2.5 feet high table. For most of them life is good and continues to be good, but that can all change with one diagnosis from your doctor. So it was with Mitch Harmon when he got that diagnosis. He had cancer. Mitch fought his cancer the way he plays ping pong, aggressively, courageously, and faithfully. Last June, after many months of chemo treatments and other unpleasant medical procedures, he returned to the game he loves, ping pong. We are so happy to have Mitch back. He plays the game of ping pong very well, but he plays the game of life even better. He plays it aggressively, courageously, and faithfully. And we might add, prayerfully. Come give ping pong a try. We play Mondays through Saturdays from 2 to 4 pm at The Courts.
