Kennel Club By Ann Luekens
Again this year, the Kennel Club produced its colorful and
enjoyable Patriotic Pup Parade. Fitting in with the celebration theme
of the Nation's Birthday Holiday, the parade began with Ron Brown
singing God Bless America. The Grand Marshal, Ann Carter, and
Honorary Grand Marshal, Sharon Boll, enjoyed filling their roles, and
the spectator gatherings were enthusiastic as the parade meandered
through The Colony to the sounds of our military music.
Judge winners were presented by Kimberly Evans. The Grand
Prize went to Marianne Kashima; the Grand Marshal Award to Scott
Christian; the Out-of-the-box Award to Ron and Keri Baldridge; the
Hal Perry Award to Scott Daniels; and the Sambuca, for the best
neighborhood party, was awarded to Virginia Incorvia, 40185 Via
Tonada, who had encouraged her neighbors and friends for a watch
party.
Afterwards, Marianne Kashima, in a generous and gracious
gesture, gifted her monetary Grand Prize award back to the Kennel
Club to support their efforts in the Colony. Other residents have also
made donations to help with this goal.
After the parade, the participants enjoyed a taco feast, with special
entertainment by Bob Beal.
Many thanks to all the participants, judges, and the committee
who worked out details and décor, and to our spectators who made it
a festive and fun event for everyone.
