| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2024 | 17 Sun Lakes Committee Reports It's summertime and very warm out there … so how about spending your Tuesday evenings with your Bingo friends and neighbors in the cool of the Ballroom here in Sun Lakes? Come and enjoy the fun, prize monies and the great food and beverages. Even with the Lounge renovation in progress, the Restaurant and Lounge staff are providing great dinner entrees and bar service for all our guests. This a big addition to Tuesday Night Bingo. Remember food and lounge service is only available with a SL membership card or credit card - no cash. Three great game nights this month - Aug. 13, 20, and 27. We play 12 regular and three special games and guests can play all 15 games for as little as $7 for the whole evening. Many cash and door prizes are won each week. Remember cash only for bingo purchases - no checks or credit cards. Doors open at 4:30 pm, games start at 6 pm sharp and games are over by 8:45 pm. Any questions? For your musical pleasure – a baby grand piano was donated by one of our generous Sun Lakes residents. The library survey is now available in all of our libraries for your review and completion. This survey will better enable us to order books (including audio books) based on your preference. Upon completion of the survey (which should take only a few minutes), please place it in the adjoining survey tray, or you may drop it off at 5120 Riviera Avenue in the mail slot or the box by the front door. We need your input to meet your reading pleasure. The survey results will be posted in the September and October Lifestyles issues. Our library book group had its first meeting on Thurs., June 27, in the Fireplace Library. While this avid reading group has not yet received approval from the Master Board (application in process), we look forward to reading and sharing some stimulating books to be discussed among our members. The FAC is pleased to welcome two new Committee members effective July 1: Jess Ocampo, a retired CPA and Sandra Gutknecht, a Masters in Business Administration. Together they bring years of financial management experience. We look forward to their contributions to the FAC and its mission to advise the Master Board on financial matters and strategies. One of the key responsibilities of the Finance Committee is to assist in preparation and review of the annual budget. We already have a subcommittee in place who are ready to do an analysis of the upcoming budget for the board. Our charter also asks the committee to review the reserve analysis and the necessary appropriations. We have been reviewing the reserve expenditures for some time and are fully qualified to proceed with this task. Our objective is to have a budget that is both efficient and sufficient to keep Sun Lakes CC in a financially stable position and maintain our status as a premier location. The FAC can provide strong financial oversight and advice on purchases, overspending, discrepancies in accounting, recommendations on reserve and capital expenditure, and other financial matters. The FAC is absolutely necessary to assist the board and the administration in the complex financial affairs of the community. We are a group of individuals with extensive financial experience dedicated to our tasks. The community needs an ongoing persistent and independent review of our financial issues. Our next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. All residents are welcome to attend and ask questions at the end of the meeting.
