32 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2024 | At left are Fred and Cherrie Rau who have been faithful attendees of the SASY Class for several years. They especially encourage others to get interested in this fun and social group. Why Strength Training is Important for Older Adults: Maintain Bone Density: Men and Women are susceptible to bone loss after age 30. Strength training exposes your bones to mechanical load, helping maintain or increase bone mass and density. SASY is strength training only. There are 15 exercises for arms, legs and torso. The class is free. We meet in The Lodge Ballroom at 8:30 am every Tuesday and Thursday. We are a fun social group. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112 or Char Weakley at (951) 926-2599. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY) BALANCE & STABILITY: This chair-based class is designed to improve balance and stability in everyday life. These exercises are great for fall prevention. We will focus on the muscles used for bending, reaching, lifting, leaning, and getting back up. There will be short intervals of balance and coordination exercises. We will also focus on range of motion, flexibility, and deep stretching. Participants will work and their own pace and comfort level 1-2-3-pound weights will be optional. CARDIO CIRCUIT: This class is taught by our certified instructor and will offer cardio conditioning and functional strengthening. The class consists of light cardio conditioning, strength circuits with light weights (two to five pounds), balance drills, and followed up with a soothing stretch. Chair options are given. YOGA BALANCE: This class will focus on balance, stability, core strength, and deep stretching. You will flow through a variety of poses led by our certified instructor. She will guide you through the practice offering modifications and plenty of chair options. ZUMBA GOLD: This is a low impact, high energy dance fitness class. It consists of easy-to-follow dance routines mixed with low impact exercises. This class will get your heart rate up. You can freestyle or modify as needed, just enjoy the music, and keep moving. There will be a fun variety of music and dances. Come dance to salsa, merengue, cumbia, cha-cha, oldies, country, pop, and more. Burn tons of calories and have fun doing it. All the aforementioned classes are covered by Silver Sneakers, Silver and Fit, Active and Fit, Renew Active, and Peer Fit. Contact your insurance company to see if they offer any of these fitness benefits. You can purchase a punch card for $30 for 10 classes or pay just $3 per class. Classes are instructed by Shannon Ramsey, Certified Fitness Instructor, (951) 315-3889 or slramsey11@gmail.com. Certifications include: AFAA(group fitness, personal training and yoga specialty training), AEA, Silver Sneakers, Zumba Gold, Aqua Zumba, Spin, CPR-First Aid. Exercise with a Certified Fitness Instructor Hot, hot, hot … it's August; what do we expect? However, it is still important to continue exercising. If you want to escape the heat, try joining us in The Lodge Ballroom for the "Walk Fit" class. The air is on, the fans are going, feet are moving, and classmates are having a good time together. So put on some comfortable shoes and try us out. The class consists of nine different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" DVDs. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the DVDs incorporate resistance bands (always optional and extra bands are available in class for your use). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome, men & women! Class Schedule: Mon., Wed., Fri., 7:45 to 8:45 am in The Lodge Ballroom. CLASS IS FREE ! Our dinner meeting provides a special social interaction and helps to rekindle old and new friendships. The WIT Team gathers once a month in the Bistro for dinner. Our dinner orders are "called in" to the Bistro between 2 to 4 pm. When we gather at 5 pm, our orders are already being prepared and are ready to deliver to each attendee. We are a support group. Please accept our invitation to join us if you are a widow in need of a social connection and loving care. If you have any questions regarding WIT, please contact Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112.
