18 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2024 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports As the hot days of August fade, I look forward to brisker breezes, crisper air, and the end of what has seriously been a very long, hot season. Autumn is the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it, with nature's incredible color palette painting trees bright red, rust, and gold, their leaves showing us how beautiful it is to let things go. We always try to bring up all the local and national specialty events days. This month there are way too many to mention so here are a few… Sept. 2 Monday is Labor Day… (remember, we are closed this day). Sat., Sept. 7 is National Beer Lovers Day. Try a flight and select your favorite. Wine flights also available. Wed., Sept. 11 is Patriot Day. Some do a Remembrance Day or Never Forget Day toast to honor those who perished with a special cocktail, typically a Manhattan or a Big Appletini as we honor their sacrifices. Of course, golf fans you won't want to miss the Presidents Cup playing in Montreal/Quebec. Sept. 13 – 15. The LPGA (ladies) Solheim Cup. If golf isn't your thing but tennis is your jam, then you'll enjoy watching the Davis Cup. Sept. 10 to 15 watch with friends and neighbors follow your favorite players on big screens stay cool at the Sandwedge; it's the cool place to be for all these sporting events. Suffice it to say, please check out the calendar on our SLCC website, watch channel 97, as well as this magazine and mark your home calendars. I am excited about the Restaurant & Lounge renovation and expansion. I had the opportunity to see it again and though it is still under construction, it looks great. Yes, we are on schedule and on budget. Remember, our amenities rely solely on residents to patronize and support, including our Restaurants & Lounge. If you haven't already, please come out to enjoy a meal, cocktails, HaPpY Hour, and fun musical entertainment Friday and Saturday nights. If it's beer or wine, no mixed drinks you want, our Lobby Bar is adjacent to the library and is always rockin' and fun. With 3,327 homes in Sun Lakes, if each resident visited our Restaurant, Sandwedge Bar & Grill and or our Lounge just once a month it would make a giant difference to our bottom line. It's single — use it or lose it. Remember, our spectacular Brunch is always on the last Sunday of each month. Please call for reservations: (951) 769 6654. I appreciate all your calls, emails, and comments. Believe it or not I don't have all the answers LOL! Please address your concerns and or compliments using the Message to Management box located at the reception desk or go to the Sun Lakes website. The heat of summer is different from the heat of autumn. One ripens apples, the other turns them into cider. Until next month, always be humble and kind. Don't count the days; make the days count. ~ Carole Elliott, caroleelliott28@gmail. com Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
