32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2024 | Our next Dinner/Dance will be held Thurs., Sept. 12 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Doors open at 4:45 pm. Our group is about connecting with old friends and meeting new ones. It is a warm and comfortable evening of dining, music, and conversation. In September, Sunset Purple will be our musicians. They play dinner music during our meal, romantic slow songs, fast songs, and line dancing. There are three choices for the main dish, the salads are pre-plated, and desserts are always delicious. Each month we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. July's birthdays were Jerry Bowman, Lourdes Lena, Gino DeMonaco, John Wee. Candi Christopher and Gino DeMonaco celebrated their anniversary. The lucky winners of the 50/50 drawing were Margaret Chase, Lana Mascorro, Duncan Lawrie, and Evelyn Hawkins. Sharing a little bit of history … The ICC Dinner Dance Club was founded in the early 90s by Evelyn Hawkins and a group Sun Lakers who wanted to dress up and dine in style while listening to and dancing the night away to live music. Over the years we have had formal events, theme nights, and casual dances. Evelyn has been President of the club over the years and is ready to retire her position as Board President. Ann Hoefert, First Vice President, will assume the role until the elections in November. We thank you, Evelyn, for all you have done. You can be proud of what the club has become. So happy we will still see you every month at Table 13. According to the bylaws, a nominating committee is assembled to prepare for the change of three Board Members at the annual meeting, which is in November. Donna Leone, Claudia Schwartz, and Fran Rayner have agreed to be on the nominating committee. Anyone interested in joining the leadership role please contact one of the committee members. We encourage you to come join the fun and meet new friends. Sign-ups for the dinner and dance are held the first Thursday of every month at the South Clubhouse beginning at 4 pm. Meal choice will be made when you sign up. The three-course dinner price for members is $30 and $32. Give yourself a gift, come join us for a night of fun, tasty food, and relaxation. Current membership through the end of year is $12.50 per person. A "try before you buy" opportunity is available for Sun Lakes residents who have not been members in the past. If you miss signing up, contact Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832 no later than the following Sunday afternoon. If you are unable to attend the event after signing up, you can request a take-out meal box. Contact Ann Hoefert no later than 2 pm on the day of the event at (909) 553-3292 and she will arrange for you to pick up your meal in the Bus Room at 7 pm on the night of the event. For more information about ICC, contact Ann Hoefert at (909) 553-3292. ICC Dinner Dance Club Country Western Dance LINE DANCE IS RESTARTING SOON! On Mon., Sept. 23, our new season of line dance lessons will begin with basic dances, including the Electric Slide. Our club meets every Monday night in the South Clubhouse from 6:30 to 8 pm. During each lesson, we review the dances we learned in previous sessions, and learn one or two new dances. Line dance is a good form of aerobic exercise and works out your mind at the same time. Our teacher has taught this class for eight years, and makes it easy for new dancers to learn each routine. Experienced line dancers and quick learners are welcome to join the club anytime during the year. Beginners should join as close to Sept. 23 as possible. Club dues are $20 per year and there is a fee of $3 per class, but your first class is FREE! For more information on the club, contact Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832 or Mary Ann Ivey at (951) 769-1095. Hope to see you on Sept. 23!
