42 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2024 | Golf Club Well, our 2024 season is winding down. Here's the list of the last tournaments of the year: Guys and Dolls: Sept. 29 and Nov. 2. Touring Amateurs: Sept. 16 at St. Marks Executive; Oct. 7 at e Links; and Nov. 18 at Welks. Special Tournaments: Sept. 9 and 10, sponsored by Ocean Hills Living and hosted by the Murrells; Oct. 21 and 22 sponsored by Lenhoff Financial and hosted by the Moskovitz's. ree major tournaments occurred this past July. e Special Tournament on July 8 and 9 was hosted by Tony and Bev Gillett and sponsored by Merrill Lynch. e tournament drew a large group of contestants, including these champions: Magic Circlers were Gary Forsberg, Bill Crosby, Roger Marr, Sandy Geisser, Alan Richmond, Bill Gillen, Bob Whissel, Lai Ming Lien, Bernard Whitley, Joe Moore, Randy Royter, Donald Russell, and Tom Silva. Closest to the Pin hot shots were Roger Arlich and Elloise Morse. And a shout out to Mike Ross for his hole in one. Volunteers Rich and Kit Dameron and sponsor Merrill Lynch appear in the photos. Touring Amateurs took place on July 15 at the St. Marks Executive Course. Magic Circle winners there included Tim Beaman, Lance Erickson, Bill Gillian, Bob Hilliard, and David Hyde. Closest to the Pin marvels were Robbie Sullivan and Randy Royter. Guys and Dolls on July 27 was the last tourney of the month. Alan Ballard, Bob Becker, Joel Batzofin, and Sandy Ackerman plunked their balls into the Magic Circle. And Robbie Sullivan and Randy Royter threw darts at Closest to the Pin. Fall is in the air as are our magnificent high arcing shots approaching the green! Written by James Mulvey We had a fun July playing a lot of duplicate bridge with a few new people that are getting very successful! We welcome bridge players to join us on Tuesdays from 5 to 7:30 pm and on select Fridays from 1 to 4:30 pm. If you have questions or want to sign up, please email the club before each game with your partner's name or a desire for us to find you a partner. We also have new FREE bridge classes starting Sept. 4 - Nov. 20 to learn to play or modernize your game. Experienced players learn advanced strategies. Classes will be on Wednesdays 3:15 to 5:30 pm. If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. is is an all-standing, low-impact class… NO JUMPING! e instructor leads each class in a warm up session followed by the aerobic portion, and then she does a cool down. Light weights are used for the last 10 minutes of the class. Occasionally, there are a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (ere is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) e cost is $5 per class paid directly to the instructor.
