Walkers & Hikers Club
VARIETY… as we headed into August, we had scheduled a "do
not miss" walk and hike. On Aug. 9, we took in the Carlsbad Sea Wall
Trail, and enjoyed lunch at our favorite, the Storehouse Kitchen.
We will be walking beach trails in the fall, following tides and
scheduling walks accordingly. We were unable to walk Moonlight
Beach in Encinitas earlier in the summer, but with construction
completed, we will be walking there in late September.
With both leaders of walks and hikes on the injured list, Club
member Geoff Altman, experienced hiker
throughout San Diego County, stepped forward
and led a sunset hike at Double Peak Ridgeline
Trail on Aug. 15. We met in the overf low parking
lot at 5:30 pm, got oriented, and enjoyed a beautiful
evening of exercise.
Geoff is not the only one to volunteer to lead
hikes or walks. Marla Reiter, another experienced hiker from
within our Club roster, has organized spring and summer activities
that have proven to be very popular. As members of our Club begin
to take leadership roles, the variety of walks and hikes have taken
shape, as we said they would when so many of you joined our Club
on Do Dues Day and beyond.
Our website is https://ohccwalkershikers.wixsite.com/
ohccwalkers-hikers. Or go to OHCC Hikers Walkers Calendar. You
will be guided to walks and hikes scheduled, the sign-up form to
follow once you click on the hike or walk in which you are interested.
If you want to know who else is on the hike or walk, the site will
give you that information as well.
September Luncheon — On the 22nd of the month, club
members enjoy getting together for a luncheon sponsored by the
Club. This is a time for conversation between members, planning
announcements by Club officers, and re-capping accomplishments
for the past year.
