It was a full crowd when Monte de Oro joined us for wine tasting and bingo. 30 | THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2024 | Clogging is a form of American Folk Dance with taps on the shoes. It's great fun, and it is a wonderful way to exercise your body and brain. As an added benefit, studies show that dancing is a major tool in the fight against Alzheimer's and dementia. Class is every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 pm in the Auditorium and only $5 per class. Our instructor will be back from summer break starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, and once again will offer a FREE one- session beginners class from 4:30 to 5:15 pm, so that you can "try before you buy." The beginners class is only offered in September and January. Don't worry about shoes; our instructor will loan clogging shoes until you decide whether you want to buy your own. If you're interested or have questions, please call me at the above number. Clogging Classes By Mary Seifert, 951-304-3503 Did you know that The Pacific Northwest, particularly Oregon and Washington, has emerged as a powerhouse in the world of fine wines? From Oregon, we find some of this country's best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in the Willamette Valley and Dundee Hills. Washington State's famous Columbia Valley is the epicenter of some of the world's best Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vineyards. Want to find out more? Our September event is a special visit to the vineyards in Oregon and Washington. Board member Jeff Hillerich will be leading us through the Pacific Northwest wine region as we taste six beautiful wines. Dinner, provided by Gourmet Your Way Caterers, will complement these exquisite wines. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Aug. 26 from 10 am to noon, and from 5 to 7 pm, and again on Monday, Sept. 9 from 10 am to 12 pm. Ticket price is $35 for members. Join us for a "trip" to the Pacific Northwest wine country! We were excited for our August bus tour to Ultimate Vineyards and Maurice Car'rie Winery. This visit to one of the first vineyards in Temecula Valley included six tastings and a hot lunch. It was a wonderful way to enjoy a summer day! Our July event, Wine Bingo and Tastings with Monte De Oro Winery, was a huge success. The winners of each game received a bottle of Monte de Oro wine. There was added excitement when Monte de Oro asked the crowd challenging wine trivia questions and presented a bottle of wine to those winners, as well! According to Michael Broadbent, "Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life's most civilized pleasures." So, join The Colony Wine Club with your friends, or make new friends while drinking good wine. To join the club, please give Sharon Evans a call at 951-445-3861. As always, if you are interested in purchasing tickets to any event, please attend one of the ticket sales dates. If you cannot make it to the dates indicated, you can have another club member purchase a ticket for you. Cheers! Wine Club By Valorie Hillerich Bingo cards were all the rage for the Wine Club members . Board Member Alvie Kracik supervised the game as players dabbed their cards and hoped for a BINGO
