FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2024 61
From patches to matches – during the last half of July, the tennis courts were closed so that they could be
resurfaced; so this will only be half an article, which you are probably not reading anyway. Are you? The
patches were temporary fixes to the courts where the weather, the wear, and mysterious alien markings
necessitated repairs and new painting. It was also a timely opportunity to retrofit the gates so that they
only swing to the outside and will not continue to scratch the courts. So, be mindful that you pull the gates
open and don't hurt yourself trying to push them, unless of course, you are exiting the court, then you
push. In anticipation of the court closure, we held the July Play Day a week early and had a great turn-out
of players wanting to get in a few more matches before the hiatus.
Larry Zimmerman, Tennis Executive Committee member and secretary, will be coordinating the
monthly play days, picking up this gig upon Brian Flowers retiring from the role after several years. Thank
you, Brian. The club will be providing K-Cups for coffee and maybe donuts or some type of carbohydrate.
Mike Olson has agreed to take over the recycling project that Alex Castanon started and handled for a
couple of years, providing significant funding for the club's activities. Look for email notices about turn-in
dates for the plastic bottles and aluminum cans, empty please.
Playdays will continue to be scheduled for the last Saturday of each month – sign-ups at 8 am, and
tennis drills and coaching will occur beginning at 8:30 am on the other summer Saturdays. Everyone is
welcome. Morning and evening tennis sign-ups are available on the website: https://sites.google.com/
