The Senior Fitness Club offers residents two exercise classes with three professional instructors four times a week. Our highly qualified Instructors are Cheryl Todd, Monday and Wednesday, Tatis Cervantes-Aiken on Tuesday, and Jennie MacGoy on Friday. These classes are low-impact exercise, including balance and coordination, flexibility, range of motion, stretching and strengthening. Chair Yoga Class: The Chair Yoga exercise class meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm in the Abravanel Hall for 45 minutes while sitting in the chair and then, 15 minutes or so behind the chair but holding on to it, so you can practice your balance safely. Chair-To-Mat Yoga Class: The Chair-to-Mat exercise class meets each Tuesday from 8 to 9 am. You are 30 minutes in the chair and 30 minutes on the mat. You must provide your own mat. This instructor, Tatis, is a resident of Ocean Hills and does not charge for this class, but you must join the Senior Fitness Club to participate for only $5 a year. This class meets in the Lamia Room. We hope you will come join us for one of our many classes and exercise with us. Please come to the Lobby to sign in for the class, with the instructor, between 10:45 and 11:15 am. See you soon. Written by Carol Farrell Senior Fitness Club Bocce Club' Harvey Wallbanker Tournament The third annual Harvey Wallbanker Bocce Tournament takes place from Oct. 8 through 10 while the golf course is closed for annual maintenance. This bank shots only tournament is fun and a great skill builder for your game. Come watch your friends show off their bocce skills each day starting at 9 am. Our last quarterly meeting will be on Oct. 24 starting at 6:30 pm in Abravanel Hall. At this meeting we will elect officers for 2025 and share the schedule of events for next year. We are very fortunate to have three great bocce courts. This summer we added lights for late afternoon play and social after on Wednesday evenings. The courts are open to all residents, and we ask if you play, you also understand how to keep them in good condition for subsequent players. Recently we received two new brooms for grooming the court. We asked all players, members or not, to groom the courts when you finish playing. The new brooms are smaller, lighter and much easier to use. Please pull the broom (never push) starting at "1" in the drawing with the broom edge against the side wall. Continue until the start of the diagonal wall, "2", at the other end of the court. Pick up the broom and repeat the same process for the other side of the court, "3' to "4'. Do not put the edge of the broom on top of the side walls. Also do not use the big broom on the ends of court from the back wall to the end of the short diagonal wall on each side of the court marked "A" and "B" on the diagram. Use one of the small brooms in the equipment shed if there is product against the back wall and to lightly smooth the product where people step onto the court. It does not matter which end you start. If you would like to start playing Bocce, join us Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm for Bocce and Bev. Bring your favorite beverage to enjoy and socialize with other players after the games. The beauty of a game of Bocce is that it can be played with so many different levels of skill and yet be enjoyed by all. Submitted by Jackie Crosby, (760) 390-2885 Bocce Club
