Golfers may have noticed that the gates on the Championship
Course directing traffic from the tee areas to the fairway have been
removed. This was done with the trust that golfers will scatter
from the tee area cart paths to the fairway and avoid compaction
that was being seen when the gates were not moved daily. The gates
are still present at the greens to direct traffic from the fairway to
the cart paths. Golf maintenance has found this to be beneficial in
reducing compaction from chipping areas around the green. If you
find yourself able to get on the cart path sooner than the gate allows
,please use common sense and take the direct route to the path.
On the Championship Course, gold tees are located in the
beginning of the fairway shortening the length of play to 4504 yards.
This yardage lies in between the Executive Course (~3000 yards) and
normal play from the Championship Course (~6000 yards). These
gold tees were introduced several years ago to make the course
playable for more residents within our senior community. The Lady
Niners play from the gold tees every Thursday. A gold plaque and
two gold tee markers identify the gold tees in the beginning of the
fairways. We ask golfers to avoid driving their carts through the tee
markers and compacting the turf in the area where golfers tee up
their drives. ~ Mike Callahan, callahm56@yahoo.com
