The African Heritage Connection is thrilled to present "Embracing Strength and Resilience Through Time," a forum designed to uplift and support our aging community. We are honored to have Connie King, from Sun Lakes and an AHCC member, and her Black America Resource Directory leading this important event along with AHCC and African American F a m i l y Wellness Group. We will address the unique challenges faced by our aging African American community, with a special focus on Black women, and explore ways to enhance wellness, support, and resources. Our goals are to discover collaborative strategies for building resilience, improve available resources, and deepen our understanding of aging issues and their impact on our community. We aim to raise awareness about the support available and to develop effective wellness strategies that will benefit us all. Discussions will cover a range of vital topics, including overcoming the impacts of racial and health inequities on Black seniors, addressing risks of declining health and financial instability, and finding ways to reduce isolation and caregiving burdens. Additionally, our expert speakers will offer valuable coping tips that will help attendees manage stress, improve mental health, and navigate the challenges of aging with greater ease and confidence. Coping tips shared at the event will provide tools and strategies for: • Managing Stress: Learn techniques to handle the pressures of aging and caregiving, helping to maintain emotional and physical well-being. • Improving Mental Health: Discover ways to boost mental resilience and combat feelings of isolation, ensuring a more fulfilling and balanced life. • Navigating Financial and Health Challenges: Gain insights into proactive measures for financial stability and health management, allowing for a more secure and comfortable future. We welcome three exceptional speakers who will share their invaluable insights: • Carlene Davis, President, Sistahs Aging with Grace and Elegance • Dr. Donna Benton, Director, USC Family Caregiver Support Center/LACRC • Shor Denny, Founder/CEO, Community Now, sharing wellness and coping strategies This event promises to be a source of inspiration and practical guidance.
